Forward Duncan Powell, known for blending resilience with flair, switched his transfer pledge this spring from Georgetown to Providence, remaining in the Big East but rewriting his path. Before his brief stint at Georgia Tech, Powell impressed at Sacramento State in 2023–24, averaging 12.1 points and 7.0 rebounds across 29 games.
He posted five double-doubles and hit the 15-point mark in 10 games. His 2.8 offensive boards per game ranked second in the Big Sky. The move to Providence offers Powell not only a fresh start but also a new stage to express his evolving identity and growing list of nicknames.

Duncan Powell Flips to Providence, Brings Swagger and Stats to the Big East
Duncan Powell has officially committed to Providence through the NCAA transfer portal, as first reported by On3’s Joe Tipton.
The 6’8″, 235-pound forward initially pledged to Georgetown just a week after entering the portal but reversed course two weeks later, announcing on social media that he was reopening his recruitment. With swagger and style, Powell introduced himself on X.

Providence marks Powell’s fourth stop in his collegiate career. Most recently, he played for Georgia Tech, where he averaged 12.2 points and 5.4 rebounds over 33 games in the 2024–25 season. He shot 44.1% from the field and 35.8% from beyond the arc (53-for-148).
Powell was named the ACC’s top Sixth Man by Hoops HD and started the Yellow Jackets’ final 11 games, during which he posted 15.9 points per contest.
His efforts earned him a spot on the 2025 ACC All-Tournament Second Team after scoring 21 points against Virginia and 24 against Duke.
During his Sacremento State season Powell achieved double-digit scoring with seven rebounds while collecting 2.8 offensive rebounds which ranked second in the Big Sky conference.
After a one-year redshirt period, Powell commenced his career at North Carolina A&T College and achieved CAA All-Rookie recognition during his freshman year, scoring 8.0 points and 5.7 rebounds per game.
Powell starred at DeSoto High School in Texas, averaging 21.1 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 5.0 assists as a junior. ESPN ranked him No. 84 in the 2021 class.
