Another week, another SEC team at the top of the Division I baseball rankings. While we’ve seen Texas A&M, Tennessee, and Arkansas atop of the heap so far in 2025, who is next up?

Longhorns Fourth SEC School to Hold Top Ranking This Year

Five different SEC schools have won the last five College World Series, so it’s no surprise that in 2025, four different SEC programs have reached No. 1. A conference known for its dominance on the gridiron has proven just as powerful on the diamond.

Texas takes over the top ranking this week after winning two of three at Kentucky in Lexington. The Longhorns are 29-5 overall and lead the SEC with a 13-2 conference record. They are one of six SEC teams ranked in the top 10.

That group includes No. 2 Arkansas (32-5, 12-3), No. 4 and defending national champion Tennessee (31-5, 11-4), No. 5 Georgia (32-6, 10-5), No. 8 Auburn (26-10, 9-6), and No. 9 LSU (31-6, 10-5). The SEC grind never lets up—LSU was swept at Auburn last weekend, and Arkansas dropped two of three in Athens, falling from the top spot.

Ole Miss, Alabama, Vanderbilt, and Oklahoma are also ranked in the Top 25 this week. The ACC follows the SEC with five ranked teams, while the Big 12 has three and the Big Ten has two.

LSU suffered the biggest drop in the rankings, sliding six spots after the sweep at Auburn. Ole Miss fell five spots after dropping two of three at home to Tennessee.

Two ACC schools were the week’s biggest risers. North Carolina swept Wake Forest at home to cap a 4-0 week and climbed four spots to No. 12. The Tar Heels are now 28-8 overall and 11-7 in the ACC, still trailing No. 3 Clemson (33-6, 11-4) and No. 7 Florida State (28-7, 11-4).

Georgia Tech (29-7, 14-4) is behind those three in the rankings but currently leads the ACC standings. The Yellow Jackets swept Cal at home over the weekend and moved up four spots to No. 14 following a 3-1 week that included a home loss to Auburn. They’ll face another top-10 SEC opponent during the week in Georgia at Truist Park.

The only schools outside the SEC and ACC in the top 10 are No. 6 Oregon State and No. 10 UCLA. The Beavers, one of just two teams still competing in the Pac-12, must wait two years for a revamped league that will include Boise State, Colorado State, and Gonzaga, among others.

Until then, Oregon State continues to play some of the nation’s best baseball. The Beavers swept Cal State Fullerton on the road this weekend after taking two of three from UC Irvine the week prior. They are 26-7 overall and riding a six-game winning streak.
