After rumors of his impending departure, Kent State Golden Flashes head coach Rob Senderoff is finalizing a contract extension. Reports circulated that Senderoff was leaving for Fordham the day after Kent State lost its NIT quarterfinal to Loyola Chicago. Now, it seems like that’s certainly not the case.
Senderoff has been an impeccable coach for the most part. He’s yet to have a losing record with the Golden Flashes. Prior to losing the quarterfinals to Loyola Chicago, Kent State finished the season with 24 wins and just 12 losses. They had an 11-win and seven-loss record in the conference, finishing the season third.

Kent State’s Rob Senderoff To Finalize Long-Term Contract Extension
Senderoff has become Kent State’s winningest and longest-tenured coach. He started with the Golden Flashes in the 2011-12 season and has remained with the team ever since. CBS Sports Insider Jon Rothstein first reported the news between Kent State and Senderoff on Friday afternoon.
Senderoff posted a video to his X, letting everyone know how stoked he is to be back with Kent State. “Really happy to let everybody know that I’m gonna be back here at Kent State. Couldn’t be happier.”
He has taken Kent State to a postseason tournament in eight of his 14 seasons so far. He even took them to the NCAA March Madness tournament twice, in 2016-17 and 2022-23.
Unfortunately for the Golden Flashes, they were eliminated in the first round of both tournaments. However, in each of those seasons, Kent State won the Mid-American Conference tournament.
Kent State has had a ton of success under Senderoff. He has a great overall record, winning 288 games and losing 176. While not elite, Senderoff also has a good overall conference record, picking up 149 wins and losing 101. Kent State is a consistent winner under Senderoff, just not on the grand stage.
Senderoff’s best season came in 2022-23 when he coached Kent State to an incredible 28 wins and seven losses record. As for their conference play that year, Senderoff brought Kent State to a downright incredible conference record of 15 wins and two losses.
Senderoff was named the conference Coach of the Year and matched the school’s second-best record, which came all the way back in 2007-08.
