    San Diego State

The Aztecs have been ravaged by the portal, losing Demarshay Johnson Jr. and starter Magoon Gwatch. For the California native Vaihola, San Diego State is also appealing from a coaching standpoint. Vaihola transferred to San Jose State from Fresno State, where he was coached by then-head coach Justin Hutson, who is now an assistant coach for the Aztecs’ women’s team.

    Utah State

The Aggies, despite an NCAA tournament appearance, struggled with size last year, with no frontcourt players averaging even 7.5 points or 6.5 rebounds per game. While Vaihola is on the smaller side for a center, he could slot in at the wing position and make an immediate impact on a Mountain West contender

    Stanford

With star forward Maxime Raynaud likely heading to the NBA this offseason, the Cardinal have a big hole to fill in the frontcourt. Situated just down the road from Vaihola’s hometown of San Mateo, Stanford could make a push at Vaihola and give him the chance to start for an ACC team.

    UCLA

While forward Tyler Biodeau is the star of this Bruins team, forwards William Kyle and Devin Williams hit the portal, leaving the frontcourt relatively empty, with only Biodeau and center Aday Mara returning. Vaihola could find a spot on this UCLA roster relatively early and make his impact felt immediately.

The Ducks are losing significant minutes with the departures of Brandon Angel and Supreme Cook, leaving plenty of open time for Vaihola in the frontcourt. Paired with star center Nate Bittle and guard Jackson Shelstad, Vaihola could make an impact in the Big Ten.
