Cooper Schwieger, a 6’10”, 230-pound forward from Valparaiso, has drawn major interest in the transfer portal following a standout season. The junior averaged 15.8 points and 7.8 rebounds per game, showcasing his versatility on both ends of the floor.
Several top programs pursued him, but Schwieger has reportedly eliminated Kansas from consideration and narrowed his choices to four schools. With his size, scoring ability, and rebounding presence, he is expected to make an immediate impact wherever he lands.

Schwieger has officially narrowed his transfer options, cutting Kansas from his list and focusing on Northwestern, Wake Forest, Clemson, and Michigan. According to an X source, Schwieger is working on scheduling visits but has not finalized plans yet.

Schwieger has attracted widespread interest since entering the transfer portal on March 13. Programs such as Nebraska, Iowa, and Baylor, among others, pursued him, but his decision now revolves around four schools.
Valparaiso’s former and impressive delivery of the 2023-24 season: With an average of 15.8 points per game, he also had 7.8 rebounds per game and a 48.9% field shooting percentage.
Although his 3-point shooting performance (29.9% above) is not perfect, he may still develop since his versatility is a major attraction to recruiters. This season, he averaged 14.5 points and 6.7 rebounds per game.
One of Schwieger’s best outings came against UIC, where he recorded 33 points, 18 rebounds, and five assists. This made him the only player in the nation this season to achieve a 30-point, 15-rebound, five-assist stat line in regulation.
Additionally, he posted 19 points, eight rebounds, and three assists in Valparaiso’s Missouri Valley Conference Tournament semifinal loss to Bradley.
Schwieger’s collegiate achievements include being named the 2023-24 Missouri Valley Conference Freshman of the Year, marking him as just the fourth Valpo player to receive a conference Newcomer/Freshman of the Year honor.
He was also selected for the MVC All-Freshman Team and became one of only four MVC freshmen since 1992-93 to average at least 13 points and five rebounds per game.
