Michigan guard Justin Pippen has officially entered the transfer portal. The freshman, who is the son of NBA Hall of Famer Scottie Pippen and brother of Memphis Grizzlies guard Scotty Pippen Jr., has decided to move on from the Wolverines.
A four-star recruit out of Sierra Canyon, Pippen arrived in Ann Arbor with high expectations. But with limited playing time and a desire for more on-court reps, he’s now exploring other options. The only question is: Where will Justin Pippen land next?

Where Could Justin Pippen Transfer?
Stanford
Stanford could feel like a return home for Pippen. A California native, he considered staying in-state before ultimately choosing Michigan. Now part of the ACC, the Cardinal are building momentum under head coach Kyle Smith.
With Jaylen Blakes out of eligibility, Stanford needs a new floor general. Pippen brings scoring potential and solid playmaking instincts. Plus, staying close to home might be a bonus.
Florida
The Gators are having a solid season, but their 2025–26 roster will feature some turnover. Guards Walter Clayton Jr., Alijah Martin, and Will Richard are all expected to depart. That leaves an opening in the backcourt—and Pippen could be an intriguing addition.
While still developing, he offers depth, three-level scoring ability, and an aggressive defensive approach.
California
If Pippen wants to remain in California, Cal is another possible landing spot. With the Golden Bears aiming to be more competitive in the ACC, stronger guard play is essential.
Starting point guard Jovan Blacksher Jr. is wrapping up his college career, leaving a clear opportunity for Pippen to step in and contribute immediately. Cal also boasts a solid track record of producing NBA talent.
Arkansas
Arkansas could appeal for more than just basketball reasons. Scottie Pippen grew up in the state, and that family connection may influence Justin’s decision. Adding to the intrigue, new head coach John Calipari brings a long history of developing NBA-level guards.
With projected first-round pick Boogie Fland expected to leave, Pippen could find a path to early playing time under a coach known for player development.
Vanderbilt
Vanderbilt also offers family ties. Scotty Pippen Jr. became a star there before entering the NBA, and Justin could follow a similar path. The Commodores are in need of a new point guard with A.J. Hoggard departing.

Pippen’s scoring and facilitating abilities would be a natural fit, and the SEC would provide a competitive stage for him to grow.
