Near the start of the NCAA Tournament, the Campbell Fighting Camels decided to hire a new head basketball coach.
The school went all the way to Gainesville, Fla., to find their guy, John Andrezejek.
Campbell Hires John Andrzejek
Andrzejek will be the school’s sixth head coach in its history of being at the Division I level (since 1977-78).

A key assistant coach at Florida over the last two seasons, Andrzejek helped guide the Gators to a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament this year, along with an SEC Tournament title.
Once the Gators’ season is over, the Fighting Camels will introduce their next head coach at an introductory press conference. The Camels are in desperate need of a winning head coach to take control.
They have not made the NCAA Tournament since the 1991-1992 season and have won 20 or more games just once in the last 30 years. The hope for them is that Andrzejek can be the man to lead them out of their troubles.
What Andrzejek Brings to Campbell
The folks in Buies Creek, N.C., should be excited for the Florida assistant’s arrival. With what he was able to accomplish with the Gators each of the last two seasons, the sky can be the limit for the Camels in the CAA.
The Gators have gone 54-16 over the last two seasons, and that includes them going 30-4 this season ahead of the NCAA Tournament.
Look for the Camels to become a better scoring offense with Andrzejek’s arrival, especially considering the Gators are averaging 85.4 points per game, which is good for third-best in the country.

Additionally, Florida’s defense is something that doesn’t get talked about enough, as they are allowing opponents to make just 39.8% of their field goal attempts. A graduate of Columbia, Andrzejek has a brilliant mind and is one of the rising coaching stars in college basketball.
While the Camels are not an elite, big-time program, they have a chance to be put on the map with this hire. Time will tell when the new head coach can finally arrive in Buies Creek to start his coaching tenure.
