On Wednesday, it was announced that forward Bryce Hopkins from the Providence Friars would be entering the transfer portal.
Hopkins played 14 games before tearing his ACL in the 2023-24 season, then returned to play three games this season. In that span, he finished this season with 17.0 ppg, 7.7 rpg, and 3.0 apg.

Bryce Hopkins Enters Transfer Portal with “Do Not Contact” Status, Weighs Next Move
After playing for the Friars for three seasons, Hopkins is entering the transfer portal for a change of scenery. After a short while on the portal, he was listed as a “DO NOT CONTACT.”
The textbook definition of a player being listed as “DO NOT CONTACT” means that colleges cannot communicate with the player unless the player reaches out to the college first. But historically, when a player does this, it means that they’ve most likely decided where they are going.
Hopkins is an efficient forward who can attack and drive to the rim deep. Many teams can use interior offense like Hopkins. He has shown great ability during transition and finding open space on the court to score a bucket. Additionally, he is a great rebounder, averaging 8.3 REB throughout his time at Providence.
According to Rob Reinhart, several schools have expressed interest in picking up Hopkins, such as Dayton, Vermont, Tarleton State, and Iona. Reinhart also mentioned that Hopkins is meeting with coach Rick Pitino to potentially work out a deal with conference rival St. John’s.

Who knows where Hopkins will end up, but whichever college he ends up in will have a star player on its roster. The main concern with colleges right now is his ability to stay healthy after that torn ACL in early 2024.
