Who Is Otega Oweh’s brother? The NFL Connection Behind the Kentucky Guard

Kentucky Wildcats guard Otega Oweh has been terrific in his first season in Lexington, Ky., rising to stardom — but he may not even be the biggest sports star in his own family.

Exploring Kentucky Guard Otega Oweh’s NFL Brother

Oweh, who achieved second-team All-SEC honors for his efforts in the 2024-25 season, has proven to be one of the best guards in the country this season. He’s been the engine behind the Wildcats’ 21-10 regular-season record and AP Poll Top 25 ranking nearly all season long.

He’s averaging a team-high 16.5 ppg on 49.5% shooting from the field while grabbing 4.6 rpg.

The former Oklahoma Sooner has had several memorable moments this season — against his former team.

On Feb. 26, Oweh made a game-winning layup with six seconds left to secure a road victory. Just three weeks later, he did the exact same thing, this time in the second round of the SEC Tournament. With six seconds left, he drove the length of the floor and finished with his left hand at the rim for the win.

Despite his quick rise to notoriety within college basketball, many don’t know about Otega’s older brother, Baltimore Ravens linebacker Odafe Oweh.

Odafe played three seasons of college football for the Penn State Nittany Lions before entering the 2021 NFL Draft, where he was selected with the 31st pick in the first round by the Ravens.

He has since blossomed into an above-average pass rusher, notching a career-high 10 sacks in the 2024-25 season to go along with 39 total tackles. He was a key part of a Baltimore team that made it to the Divisional Round of the NFL playoffs before losing to the Buffalo Bills.

It’s not often that we see NBA and NFL brothers — but that soon may become a reality if Oweh declares for the 2025 NBA Draft after a strong junior season.

He does have one year of eligibility remaining, so if he chooses, he could come back to Kentucky and dominate for one more season before joining his older brother in the professional ranks.
