Hubert Davis Agrees to Contract Extension With North Carolina Through 2030

“UNC head coach Hubert Davies reportedly agreed to a contract extension with the school before the 2024-25 season that will run through 2030,” the post said, as quoted from WRAL.

College hoop fans reacted in the comments, with some revealing their displeasure at Hubert’s contract extension.

“Hubert Davis will find a way to screw it up,” a fan wrote.

“Not with Hubert at head coach,” another fan wrote.

“LOL I guess they don’t want to be good again for a while 😂,” a fan commented.

Meanwhile, UNC hired longtime agent Jim Tanner as the program’s first basketball general manager, and he plans to create a “front office” for Tar Heels. Again, fans reacted in the comment section, with some agreeing that college basketball should definitely be upgraded.

“I feel like states without NBA teams should definitely have their college teams set up like NBA front offices. Treat college players like NBA talent,” a fan wrote.

“College sports is done. Stop with associating them as students and make them minor league programs,” another fan wrote.

However, another fan disagreed with the move, stating that teams that did it three years ago did not have relevant NBA players.

“Way too late teams did this 3 years ago and they have no relevant NBA players,”  the fan wrote.

Ex-UNC Player Shares Thoughts on Hubert Davis’ Contract Extension

As Davis continues to trend following the announcement of his contract extension with North Carolina to 2030, a former player of the Tar Heels has weighed in on the contract extension. Tyler Hansbrough made his feelings known about the deal during a podcast session with “The Field Of 68.”

“You know what, you can make the argument that coach Davis has done a very good job. You know, first year national championship runner-up. Then last year, ACC, I think, regular-season champs, and then we got a No. 1 seed. You know, the only problem a lot of Carolina fans are, you know, frustrated with, and this is no secret, is the peaks and valleys,” he said.

“We’d like to be somewhere in between, but I think this is good. I mean, hopefully, this gives, you know, a little more confidence to recruits and gives our ability to really recruit the portal with confidence. And knowing that kids are going to come here and play for coach Davies when that happens.”
