Christian Laettner Reacts to Upcoming Duke Documentary

The excitement surrounding the film has already caught the attention of one of Duke’s most iconic players, Christian Laettner. ESPN PR’s official X (formerly Twitter) account shared a teaser clip of the documentary with the caption:

    “‘We’re #1! 1991 & 1992 Duke Blue Devils’ – the story of @DukeMBB’s back-to-back Natl. Champ teams.”

In response, Laettner reshared the video with his own caption:

“#MarchMadness is a great time of year! #GoDuke.”

Produced by Raycom Sports in partnership with ESPN. This documentary provides an in-depth look at the Blue Devils’ championship seasons through a series of exclusive interviews and archival footage.

The film features commentary from former Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski as well as legendary players such as Laettner, Bobby Hurley, Grant Hill, Antonio Lang, Brian Davis, and Cherokee Parks.

Additionally, former Duke assistant coach Mike Brey lends his perspective on what made those teams so dominant.

The documentary also takes an objective approach by including insights from opposing coaches and players who faced Duke during their championship seasons.

Former Wake Forest head coach Dave Odom and ex-UNC coach Roy Williams, who was leading the Kansas Jayhawks at the time, offer their thoughts on the Blue Devils’ impact.

Meanwhile, Michigan’s Jimmy King, Georgia Tech’s Brian Oliver, Virginia’s Bryant Stith, and Kentucky’s John Pelphrey provide firsthand accounts.

The documentary aims to capture the intensity of Duke’s back-to-back championship seasons by focusing on some of their most memorable games. A combination of game footage, behind-the-scenes interviews, and previously unreleased stories will immerse viewers in the Blue Devils’ journey to the top.

A Must-Watch for College Basketball Fans

One of the most notable games featured in the documentary is Duke’s upset victory over UNLV in the 1991 Final Four. Entering that game, UNLV had been undefeated and was heavily favored to repeat as national champions.

However, the Blue Devils pulled off a stunning win, marking a major turning point in the history of their program.

Another game that receives extensive coverage is Duke’s dramatic 1992 Elite Eight victory over Kentucky. This ended in one of the most famous moments in NCAA Tournament history — Laettner’s buzzer-beating shot.
