Jackson Shelstad’s Overtime Shot Powers Oregon to Wisconsin Upset

“JACKSON SHELSTAD OH MY GOODNESS,” the post was captioned, “WE ARE HEADED TO OT!!”

Oregon men’s basketball survived another double-digit road loss after the Ducks forced overtime to hand a 77-73 upset of No. 11 Wisconsin in a Big Ten men’s basketball game at the Kohl Center in Madison. The highlight of the game came when Shelstad scored a step-back 3-pointer with 13.2 seconds to play in regular time, which tied the game at 66-66.

Before then, Oregon was trailing as much as 17 in the first half, but some brilliant play from guys like Nate Bittle, Shelstad, Keeshawn Barthelemy, and TJ Bamba saved the day for the Ducks.

“Really good effort,” coach Dana Altman said during his postgame radio interview on KUJZ-FM. “I can’t tell you how proud I am … down 17, it takes a lot of character to man up and come back.”

Jackson finished the game with 13 points, three rebounds, and two assists in 41 minutes of play, while Bittle led all scorers with 23 points and six rebounds. Barthelemy had 14 points, while Jadrian Tracey and Kwame Evans also added 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Oregon outscored Wisconsin  11-7 in overtime, with Nate Bittle scoring six in the extra session, tying a career-high with 23 points. The Ducks also held the Badgers to 16 points below their season average during regulation play and to just one field goal in the final six minutes of the second half.

The last time both teams met was on  Dec. 4, 2024, when Oregon defeated USC  68-60 in its Big Ten opener in Los Angeles. Meanwhile, the Trojans are fighting for a spot in the Big Ten Tournament, with 1.5 games ahead of finishing in the bottom three in the conference standings. Only the top 15 teams will make it to the tournament.
