Alabama comes in with a 20-3 overall record and is 9-1 in SEC play. They are 13-10 ATS but have covered seven of 10 conference matchups, including four of their last six.

Although a high-scoring team, Vegas has seemingly nailed Alabama’s over/under total. Eleven of their 23 games have gone over the listed point total, as well as 50% of their conference outings. The under has been a successful bet in three of their last four games.

The Longhorns bring a 15-9 overall and 4-7 conference record into the matchup, good for an 11th-place tie in the SEC. They’ve covered 13 of their 24 games this season, including 6 of 11 in conference play. At home, they’re 8-5-1 against the spread, a potentially telling stat for this game.

The over has hit in 50% of Texas’s contests, but similar to their success ATS at home, eight of 14 games in the comforts of Moody Center have gone over the listed point total.

Alabama vs. Texas CSN Power Rankings Line

Our metrics system has Alabama favored by -4.5, a slight increase from the listed line of Alabama -3.5. These teams are relatively close in our power rankings, however. Texas is slotted at No. 19, while the Crimson Tide holds the No. 15 spot.

The value, according to our metrics, is on the Alabama side of the line.

    Prediction for Alabama vs. Texas

This is the first and potentially only — barring seeing each other in the SEC tournament — matchup between the Crimson Tide and Longhorns this season. It will resemble something similar to a track meet on the court.

Alabama is the highest-scoring team in the country, scoring an average of 90 ppg, and they’ve gone over the century mark six times already this season.

They’re led by point guard Mark Sears, who was recently named as a top-10 candidate for the 2025 Bob Cousy Award. He makes them go, averaging a team-leading 17.8 ppg and 5.0 apg.

Versatile forward Grant Nelson adds 12.9 ppg along with a team-leading 8.0 rpg. The emergence of sophomore guard Aden Holloway has been notable as of late; after a slow start to the season, he’s scored in double-figures in 10 of the last 12 games. The Tide boasts two more players averaging double-digit scoring on the season.

Texas is no slouch offensively either; they pour in 78.5 ppg, good for 57th in the nation.

The Longhorns’ 6’6″ true freshman guard Tre Johnson was expected to be good right away, but he’s been far better than just good. He leads the SEC in scoring at 19.0 ppg, showing an innate ability to create his own opportunities and make tough shots.

Forward Arthur Kaluma is just as important of a piece for the Longhorns due to his presence down low. He’s listed as probable to play, and Texas will need him for his nightly 13 points and eight rebounds.

Transfer point guard Jordan Pope had a tremendous start to the season but has faded as of late, scoring in single figures in six of his last seven outings. The Longhorns will need more from him if they want to pull off the upset.

The over/under is listed at an astronomical 165.5, but assuming both teams reach their scoring averages, that line is two points below the total.

Considering Texas’s talented scoring punch of Johnson and Kaluma and Alabama’s subpar defense (they allow 78.4 ppg), I expect the over to be a successful bet.

What I don’t expect to happen is for the Longhorns to outscore the Tide. Texas has lost two in a row, seemingly going in the wrong direction. Conversely, Alabama has won six in a row, peaking as March nears.

Take Alabama -3.5. Our metrics point towards that being the play, and considering the Tide have covered 70% of their conference games, this should be a safe bet.

Alabama’s team point total is listed at 85.5. My expectation is that they’ll smash that. Two of their 100-point outings have been on the road, proving that doesn’t deter their offensive abilities.

Although Texas will fight hard, attempting to win a signature game on their home floor, the Crimson Tide are simply the better team and will down the Longhorns.

Picks: Over 165.5, Alabama -3.5, Alabama Over 85.5 points

    Prediction: Alabama 91, Texas 82
