Deion Sanders Hires HOF Marshall Faulk to the Colorado Coaching Staff

On Thursday night, the University of Colorado announced that Coach Prime hired Pro Football Hall of Famer as the Buffs’ new running back coach. Faulk played 12 seasons in the NFL and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2017.

College football fans took to social media to share their thoughts and opinions on Deion Sanders’ bringing in Marshall Faulk to improve the Buffs’ running game on the gridiron.

“This is very cool,” one fan said.

“Hell yea! Marshall was 1 of 1. Now we need an elite RB in Boulder,” another fan commented.

“I love this, Faulk was a beast,” this fan said.

“Nice! Coach Prime playing chess out there,” another fan wrote.

“Marshall Faulk is one of the smartest, most talented football players I’ve ever seen play. What a tremendous hire by Coach Prime and the Colorado Buffaloes,” this fan stated.

“This is crazy. Huge asset,” one fan commented.

Faulk is considered to be arguably one of the best running backs in NFL history. He will come in to improve a roster that heavily relied on Shedeur Sanders’ passing game the last two seasons.

During their 2024 campaign, the Buffs ranked 69th in the nation in rushing yards, averaging 65.2 yards per game (382.2). He will be the third HOF coach in the program after Deion Sanders and Warren Sapp, who serves as the senior quality control analyst for the defense.

Faulk Was a Heisman Finalist During His Collegiate Career

Faulk spent three seasons with the San Diego State Aztecs in college. During his freshman campaign, he recorded 1,428 yards and 23 TDs rushing, becoming the third true freshman to earn a spot in the Associated Press All-American team.

During his sophomore season in 1992, Faulk finished second in the Heisman voting after leading SDSU to a 5-5-1 campaign while tallying 1,630 yards and 15 TDs rushing. He was drafted as the second overall pick by the Indianapolis Colts during the 1994 NFL Draft.

It will be interesting to see if the program puts more emphasis on their rushing game to open up better offensive chances during the upcoming season.
