Ranking the Top 10 Centers in College Basketball

    10) Thomas Sorber, Georgetown

Thomas Sorber committed to Georgetown last year as the 46th best player in the country. He has already shined his freshman season for the Hoyas and is well on his way to the NBA. Sorber has a great offensive skill set, averaging 14.6 points per game this year and shooting over 50%.

Sorber is also a great player on the defensive side of the ball averaging 2.5 blocks a game this season. As an all-around great player, he certainly deserves to be recognized as a top center in CBB.

    9) Asa Newell, Georgia

Asa Newell is playing his first season as a true freshman for Georgia. He is already incredible on the offensive end of the court, scoring 15.3 points a game this season. He has racked up 6.0 rebounds a game as well and has fast hands, averaging nearly two steals a game.

Newell has found his name in draft talks early on in his career, and if he declares for the NBA after his freshman season, he will more than likely be a lottery pick.

    8) Derik Queen, Maryland

Derik Queen is a true freshman who already has established himself as one of the best centers in the game. Standing at 6’10”, he’s a great defender, averaging a block and a steal per game this season.

Queen is also good offensively, scoring 15.8 points per game this season. He is a double-double threat night in and night out, averaging over 8.0 rebounds. Queen is most likely going to go one-and-done and declare for the NBA after his freshman season.

    7) Robbie Avila, St. Louis

While Robbie Avila might not look the part of an elite athlete, he certainly is one. While rocking sports goggles, Avila will give your favorite team 20 and 10 on any given night. This season the St. Louis center is averaging 18.3 points with 6.6 rebounds.

Avila is a dominant presence on the inside but has a great jumper as well. He even is a threat to score from three, shooting 37% from deep this season. While he is from a small school, fans everywhere should learn his name, as he is one of the most entertaining players in CBB.

    6) Oumar Ballo, Indiana

Oumar Ballo is, simply put, built like a brick house. Standing at 7’0″ tall and weighing 265 pounds, he is a dominant presence for the Hoosiers. He averages 14.5 points this season, along with 10.3 rebounds and 1.7 blocks a game.

While his defense is the best part of his game, he provides a scoring boost for Indiana on the offensive side as well. Ballo is a well-rounded center who is one of the best in the nation.

    5) Graham Ike, Gonzaga

Graham Ike is a hybrid player for Gonzaga who plays both at the four and the five. He is an offensive baller, averaging 17.3 points a game this season and shooting 42% from the three-point line.

Ike does well for his team on the glass, averaging 7.4 rebounds a contest this year. Ike isn’t the best defensively, but he may be the best scoring threat on this entire list.

    4) Maxime Raynaud, Stanford

Maxime Raynaud, originally from France, has been unreal this season. He is averaging 20.5 points, 11.5 rebounds, and 0.9 blocks. He is the best center in the country on the offensive side of the ball and is a glass cleaner on defense, averaging 8.1 defensive rebounds a game.

Raynaud should find himself drafted fairly early at the end of the season with his improved offensive ability.

    3) Hunter Dickinson, Kansas

Hunter Dickinson is in his fifth year of college basketball and has been one of the most prolific centers in the history of the sport. Dickinson has 2,631 career points and 1,399 career rebounds.

This season, Dickinson has averaged 16.3 points, 9.7 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks per game. He is the core of a very good Kansas roster and is very important to the team’s success.

    2) Ryan Kalkbrenner, Creighton

Ryan Kalkbrenner is a senior who was dominant for Creighton last season and has continued his success this year. The 7’1″ baller from Missouri is averaging 17.8 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 2.9 blocks a game.

As a center who is terrific on both sides of the court, he is a nightmare for opposing teams and is easily one of the best players in the nation.

    1) Johni Broome, Auburn

Since coming back from an ankle injury, Johni Broome has been unstoppable. Broome stands at 6’10” and is averaging 17.9 points, 10.3 rebounds, and 2.7 blocks a game.
