Colorado vs. Cincinnati Matchups to Watch

Saturday’s matchup between the Buffaloes and Bearcats will likely hinge on several key matchups.

First up is Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders and the high-powered Buffaloes offense. They may face challenges if Cincinnati can successfully pressure Sanders, a weakness the Colorado OL has shown since coach Deion Sanders took over.

Going in their favor, however, is the fact that Cincinnati’s pass rush is not particularly strong, ranking 61st in pressure creation, which could allow Sanders more time to operate effectively.

On the defensive side, Colorado’s standout cornerback Travis Hunter is expected to play on both sides of the ball, something he did not do in his return from injury a week ago against Arizona. Hunter’s presence should provide a spark and an edge as he can single-handedly neutralize Cincinnati’s passing game led by QB Brendan Sorsby

Cincinnati’s strength lies in its balanced offense, averaging over 450 yards per game. Led by Sorsby and running back Corey Kiner, Cincinnati has been a silent but effective offense to watch in 2024.

While Colorado has already surpassed their preseason win expectations for some, their growth on the defensive side of the ball has kept them in the hunt for a Big 12 Championship Game appearance.

A win against Cincinnati would prove integral for their postseason hopes.
