Saturday marks the 10th-ever matchup between the Ducks and Buckeyes. Although Oregon won the last two times the two teams met (in Columbus, 2021), Ohio State has been the dominant program in head-to-head combat with a 9-1 overall record. In their only previous visit to Eugene, the Big Ten frontrunner returned home with a 30-0 victory, and the Buckeyes have never lost to Oregon on the West Coast.
Ohio State is off to a hot start in the 2024 college football campaign. Ryan Day’s Buckeyes have yet to come close to facing defeat, taking a 5-0 record into this matchup with Oregon. They’ve blown away every opponent with their fourth-ranked offense (46.0 points per game) and the best defense in the nation (6.8 points per game allowed). However, Oregon is comfortably their toughest test of the year, especially with the road trip to Eugene.

That home-field advantage helps power Oregon’s 52.8% chance of victory, as per College Football Network’s Football Playoff Meter. The Ducks haven’t been as dominant as Ohio State this season and after difficulties beating Idaho and Boise State to open their campaign, there have been question marks about the preseason expectations of a Big Ten challenge. However, there’s a feeling that we’re yet to see the best of Dan Lanning’s team.
Calling the game for Ohio State on the radio this weekend will be Paul Keels, Jim Lachey, and Clay Hall. Keels, a five-time NSMA Ohio Broadcaster of the Year and Ohio Broadcasters Hall of Fame Inductee, has been a pivotal part of the Ohio State sports scene since joining WBNS in 1998. Jim Lachey, a former All-American for the Buckeyes, lends his considerable playing experience to the booth, while Clay joined the team this season.
