On Wednesday, July 10, EA Sports unveiled the top 100 highest-rated players in College Football 25. Fans across the country who have been starved of a new college football video game for 11 years had plenty of instant reactions. Players also got in on the fun, offering insights into their own ratings ahead of the game’s July 19 launch date.
Player Reaction to EA Sports College Football 25 Ratings
Clemson’s social media team surprised their two highest-rated players, linebacker Barrett Carter and defensive lineman Peter Woods, by handing them new jerseys with their overalls as the numbers. Both players were confused at first, but once they were given some hints, they understood the assignment.
Carter jumped with pure joy, saying, “Are you serious? Oh, that’s so cool!” Woods was similarly excited, responding, “Noooo, I’m a 90!? Stop. … Apprecaite y’all seeing my abilities and putting them in the game. It’s a dream come true.”
Thanks to his versatile skill set and ability to impact the game, Carter checked in as the highest-rated LB. Meanwhile, Woods earned his spot as the No. 7 DT fresh off a Freshman All-American campaign.

EA’s Top 100 favored the Power Four, but there were six Group of Five athletes on the list. One was, unsurprisingly, Boise State’s All-World RB Ashton Jeanty.
After posting a 220-1,347-14 rushing line and a -43-569-5 receiving line, the Bronco earned Mountain West Offensive Player of the Year and first-team All-American honors from ESPN, USA Today, and College Football Network.
Yet, he earned a 91 overall in College Football 25, behind seven other running backs. “It could have been a little bit higher,” Jeanty said of his rating while at Mountain West Media Days.”But I think a 91 is a good rating.”
He added that he hopes to earn in-season adjustments with his play, which shouldn’t be too difficult as he aims for 2,000 rushing yards.

Colorado State WR Tory Horton joins Jeanty as two of the six Go5 players with a top-100 rating. He had low expectations leading up to the game’s release, telling reporters he thought he’d be an 83 overall. Instead, he received a 91 as the fifth-ranked WR.

Only Colorado’s Travis Hunter (95), Missouri’s Luther Burden III (94), Arizona’s Tetairo McMillan (94), and Ohio State’s Emeka Egbuka (93) were ahead of him. Horton’s rating shouldn’t come as much of a shock, as he has generated 1,000+ yards and eight touchdowns in each of the last two seasons, garnering first-team All-MWC honors.

Players had early hands-on experience with College Football 25 at Big 12 Media Days, and two Colorado stars shared reactions to their ratings with reporters at the event. QB Shedeur Sanders, a projected first-round NFL Draft, landed a 93 overall, tied with Georgia’s Carson Beck for the highest overall at the position.
“I feel like that’s true, best quarterback in college football,” the projected first-round NFL Draft pick said. However, he wasn’t exactly ecstatic about sharing that label. “It’s a tie; I don’t believe in ties when it comes to quarterbacks. When it comes to quarterback ratings, it’s either winner or loser.”
Safety Shilo Sanders, Shedeur’s older brother and counterpart as the leader on the defensive side of the ball, also spoke with media members. And although he didn’t crack the Top 100, Sanders was happy with one of his key attributes.
“They put me as an 86 overall. My hitting power is probably the highest in the game. I don’t know if it is, but I think it is.”
