After adding two Big 12 powerhouses in Texas and Oklahoma for the 2024 campaign, the SEC schedule will maintain its eight-conference-game format through 2025. However, there are some slight changes on the way.
2025 SEC Schedule Updates
247Sports was the first to report the SEC would stick to the eight conference games, with multiple reports confirming the news.
At 16 teams, adding at least one more conference bout to the schedule made sense, and the move was reportedly backed by commissioner Greg Sankey. However, at the SEC Media Days last July, he said creating a nine-game schedule had “a lot of issues, and, after reviewing all 16 programs’ schedules, he believed “our eight-game schedule is pretty remarkable.”
While the schedule model isn’t changing, there will be a modification in start times beginning in 2024.

Allegedly, to extend the action throughout the day, SEC Network game start times can be pushed back 45 minutes. According to 247sports, an average SEC Network slate would now look like 12:45 a.m. ET, 4:15 p.m., and 7:45 p.m. Moreover, SEC and ESPN now have the ability to flex ABC and ESPN afternoon/night games a certain amount of times per university.
The SEC officially released its 2025 conference schedule earlier today, which you can see here.
