In many ways, the 2025 SEC football schedule will very different to that of years past. However, in one specific way, the 2025 SEC football schedule will maintain consistency.
Despite the move to garner two new teams in Texas and Oklahoma for the 2024 season, the SEC will stick with eight conference games for the 2025 season.
2025 SEC Football Schedule Sets 8 Conference Games Per Team
According to multiple reports, the SEC has decided to stick with the eight-game conference schedule for the 2025 football season. This was reported first by 247Sports, and confirmed by multiple reports after that.
A 16-team league starting in the fall of 2024 would have made sense to up the conference slate to at least nine games, but SEC officials reportedly were set with continuing the eight-game conference schedule despite commissioner Greg Sankey in support of an expanded nine-game slate.
Of note, the ACC is the other only major conference that plays an eight-game conference schedule with the Big Ten and Big 12 playing nine conference games per season.

Notable as well, the SEC was expected to announce that their conference opponents, despite the influx of teams, would remain the same in 2025 as they are set to be in 2024. The teams will just flip home and away sites.
The SEC is reportedly set to stagger their kickoff times following the loss of the marquee CBS 3:30 p.m. ET broadcast, with it being reported that the games could kick between time slots on SEC Network, ESPN, ABC, and feature kickoff times of 12:45 a.m. ET, 4:15 p.m. ET, 7:45 p.m. ET on SEC Network, and 12:00 p.m. ET, 3:30 p.m. ET, and 7 p.m. ET on ESPN or ABC.
