2024 SEC Transfer Portal Rankings: Ole Miss, South Carolina Teeming With Portal Talent

The SEC is due for a shakeup with coaching and player transactions. Who leads our SEC transfer portal rankings heading into the 2024 season?

The first transfer portal window of the 2023-2024 offseason has come and gone, and we have a good idea of which teams have made the biggest moves. In the SEC, several mid-tier teams took big swings in the portal, and it could pay dividends in 2024.

Our SEC Transfer Portal Rankings showcase the most effective teams at gaining and retaining talent.

    SEC Transfer Portal Rankings

Our transfer portal team rankings consider the total number of players gained against the number of lost players. They certainly value top-tier players making the move. However, they also look at gaps in the roster from this past season, projected losses to the draft, exhausted eligibility, or the portal itself.

    16) Alabama Crimson Tide

    Total Transfers In: Six
Top Offensive Transfer: Parker Brailsford, C
Top Defensive Transfer: LT Overton, DL

Obviously, things will get worse before they get better when the greatest coach in the history of college football retires, but it’s still weird seeing Alabama in this spot. The issue isn’t what the Crimson Tide have gained but what they’ve lost.

The Tide landed three impact transfers in Texas A&M defensive lineman LT Overton, USC corner Domani Jackson, and Washington center Parker Brailsford. All three are among the best transfers at their respective positions and have multiple years of eligibility left. However, this is a ranking of net gains and losses, and the latter far outweighs the former.

Alabama lost two quarterbacks, half of its starting secondary, two starting offensive linemen, multiple front seven contributors, and nearly its entire receiving room.

Kalen DeBoer will eventually right the ship, but losing all of those players after the transfer portal closed set the Tide back. Expect Alabama to be extremely active in the spring portal window.

    15) Vanderbilt Commodores

    Total Transfers In: 12
Top Offensive Transfer: Diego Pavia, QB
Top Defensive Transfer: Zaylin Wood, Edge

With its elevated academic standards and overall position in the  SEC’s basement, Vanderbilt will never be the type of school that brings in a brilliant transfer class. However, I quietly love this incoming transfer class for the Commodores.

After having some of its best players, including most of the skill players, poached in the early stages of the portal, Vanderbilt brought in a solid haul of players, especially on offense.

Diego Pavia was a bit of a cult hero at New Mexico State — and to college football fans in general — and has a gunslinging mentality that seems to work well in Nashville. That said, he won’t be guaranteed the starting job as the Commodores also brought in Utah quarterback Nate Johnson.

The incoming receivers should see lots of playing time, and it’s a group with good potential, highlighted by Texas Tech transfer Loic Fouonji, who brings size and experience.

On the offensive line, Vanderbilt landed former Mississippi State and Middle Tennessee starter Steven Losoya to anchor the interior.

Defensively, the Commodores added potential starters at corner in Wyoming’s Kolbey Taylor and Marlon Jones, the latter of whom had nine interceptions at Eastern Washington.

Middle Tennessee State’s Zaylin Wood and Purdue’s Khordae Sydnor will add depth at the edge positions.

    Vanderbilt’s Transfer Portal Class, 2024

    • Diego Pavia, QB, New Mexico State
    • Blaze Berlowitz, QB, New Mexico State
    • Nate Johnson, QB, Utah
    • Loic Fouonji, WR, Texas Tech
    • Jeremiah Dillion, WR, Ole Miss
    • Steven Losoya, IOL, Mississippi State
    • Zaylin Wood, EDGE, Middle Tennessee State
    • Khordae Sydnor, EDGE, Purdue
    • Kolbey Taylor, CB, Wyoming
    • Marlon Jones, CB, Eastern Washington
    • Randon Fontenette, S, TCU
    • Jesse Mirco, P, Ohio State

    14) Florida Gators

    Total Transfers In: 10
Top Offensive Transfer: Devon Manuel, OT
Top Defensive Transfer: Joey Slackman, DL

Like many of the teams lower on this list, this ranking is more reflective of Florida’s losses than its gains. The Gator defense was decimated in the early days of the transfer portal as multiple key contributors at all three levels left Gainesville. They also lost star running back Trevor Etienne and high-end backup quarterback Max Brown.

The Gators did pick up three likely offensive starters, including starter-caliber left tackles in Arkansas transfer Devon Manuel and San Diego State’s Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson. Wisconsin wide receiver Chimere Dike will reunite with quarterback Graham Mertz following his transfer from the Badgers.

Defensively, the Gators tried to recoup a few of the losses. They secured Joey Slackman, a potential early-round draft pick at defensive tackle. He’s extremely explosive and had unreal production for Pennsylvania.

In the secondary, the Gators picked up DJ Douglas, a corner from Tulane, and Trikweze Bridges, a defensive back who played sparingly for Oregon a year after starting there in 2022. The Gators also got a flip from 2024 prospect Jameer Grimsley when Nick Saban retired at Alabama.

Lastly, the Gators brought in high-upside linebacker Grayson “Pup” Howard, a guy who flashed as a freshman at South Carolina and whom Shane Beamer’s staff did not want to lose.

    Florida’s Transfer Portal Class, 2024

    • Clay Millen, QB, Colorado State
    • Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson, OT, San Diego State
    • Devon Manuel, OT, Arkansas
    • Chimere Dike, WR, Wisconsin
    • George Gumbs, EDGE, Northern Illinois
    • Joey Slackman, DL, Pennsylvania
    • Grayson Howard, LB, South Carolina
    • DJ Douglas, CB, Tulane
    • Jameer Grimsley, CB, High School (Former Alabama Enrollee)
    • Trikweze Bridges, DB, Oregon

    13) Oklahoma Sooners

    Total Transfers In: 11
Top Offensive Transfer: Spencer Brown, OT
Top Defensive Transfer: Caiden Woullard, EDGE

Oklahoma picked up several solid yet unspectacular transfers in the portal. Still, even with three potential starters along the offensive line, it’s hard to say the Sooners gained more than they lost.

Forced to replace nearly its entire offensive line and its starting quarterback, Oklahoma needed to make huge moves in the portal to offset the losses.

Casey Thompson is an intriguing pickup in that he’s flashed the potential to be an elite quarterback but has yet to quite put it all together despite five years at the college level.

I really wanted to put him as the top offensive transfer. Still, it is challenging to get too excited about the former Texas and Florida Atlantic starter given that he’s replacing an elite talent in Dillon Gabriel.

Spencer Brown of Michigan State, Michael Tarquin of Florida, and most recently USC, and North Texas’ Febechi Nwaiwu are likely already penciled in as starters on the offensive line after multiple years as starters elsewhere.

At receiver, the Sooners picked up the productive Deion Burks of Purdue and Bauer Sharp of FCS Southeastern Louisiana, who have combined for over 1,000 yards and 10 touchdowns in their careers.

Defensively, it’s a small class with little experience. The instant impact guy is Miami (OH) edge rusher Caiden Woullard, who had 58 pressures last year. Dezjhon Malone of San Diego State brings a bit of defensive backfield experience, while Jocelyn Malaska only played on special teams at Utah but was highly rated by On3.

    Oklahoma’s Transfer Portal Class, 2024

    • Casey Thompson, QB, Florida Atlantic
    • Samuel Franklin, RB, UT Martin
    • Deion Burks, WR, Purdue
    • Bauer Sharp, TE, Southeastern Louisiana
    • Jake Roberts, TE, Baylor
    • Spencer Brown, OT, Michigan State
    • Michael Tarquin, OT, USC
    • Febechi Nwaiwu, IOL, North Texas
    • Caiden Woullard, Edge, Miami (OH)
    • Jocelyn Malaska, CB, Utah
    • Dezjhon Malone, CB, San Diego State

    12) Tennessee Volunteers

    Total Transfers In: Nine
Top Offensive Transfer: Chris Brazzell II, WR
Top Defensive Transfer: Jermod McCoy, CB

Tennessee had the least transfer portal attrition in the SEC, losing just 12 players, with only a few true contributors in the mix. However, the Volunteers’ additions were sparing, bringing in only nine transfers, with a small number expected to have a significant impact.

Chris Brazzell is a huge pickup from Tulane, as he had 711 yards and five touchdowns last year and has multiple years of eligibility remaining. The only other offensive transfer with experience is Notre Dame tight end Holden Staes, who could flex out a bigger slot receiver or remain as an in-line blocker.

Defensively, corners Jermod McCoy of Oregon State and Jalen McMurray of Temple should be solid pickups. Safety Jakobe Thomas and defensive tackle Jaxson Moi have FBS experience, while linebacker Eli Purcell was solid for FCS Wofford.

SEC West transfers Miles Kitselman (TE, Alabama) and Zalance Heard (OT, LSU) are the wild cards.

MORE: College Football Transfer Portal Tracker

Both have little playing time under their belt, but each was extremely highly rated out of high school and could find playing time in Knoxville.

    Tennessee’s Transfer Portal Class, 2024

    • Chris Brazzell II, WR, Tulane
    • Holden Staes, TE, Notre Dame
    • Miles Kitselman, TE, Alabama
    • Zalance Heard, OT, LSU
    • Jaxson Moi, DL, Stanford
    • Eli Purcell, LB, Wofford
    • Jalen McMurray, CB, Temple
    • Jermod McCoy, CB, Oregon State
    • Jakobe Thomas, Middle Tennessee

    11) Georgia Bulldogs

    Total Transfers In: Six
Top Offensive Transfer: Trevor Etienne, RB
Top Defensive Transfer: Jake Pope, S

Georgia lost more talent than it added via the transfer portal this window. However, most departures were players with little playing time or surplus to requirement in Athens.

Especially on offense, the transfers may be key contributors. Trevor Etienne was one of the best backs in the conference last year and should have an immediate impact. Meanwhile, London Humphreys has three years of eligibility remaining and was the top receiver target for Georgia in the transfer portal.

Colbie Young and Michael Jackson III flashed at times last season.

The impact of the defensive class will come down to whether Xzavier McLeod can see the field. He was highly recruited out of high school but was kicked off the team at South Carolina despite some promising returns on the field as a freshman. If he can make it to the field on Saturdays, he has the talent to be an impact player in the middle of the defensive line.

    Georgia’s Transfer Portal Class, 2024

    • Trevor Etienne, RB, Florida
    • London Humphreys, WR, Vanderbilt
    • Michael Jackson III, WR, USC
    • Colbie Young, WR, Miami
    • Xzavier McLeod, DL, South Carolina
    • Jake Pope, S, Alabama

    10) LSU Tigers

    Total Transfers In: Six
Top Offensive Transfer: CJ Daniels, WR
Top Defensive Transfer: Jyaire Brown, CB

LSU sneaks into the top 10 thanks to its superb receiver and defensive back classes. CJ Daniels is one of the top receivers in the country and pairs well with Mississippi State transfer Zavion Thomas.

The wildcard is the addition of former Vanderbilt quarterback AJ Swann.

Swann is considered by many within the industry to be an excellent quarterback but de-committed from South Carolina reportedly because he was not promised a starting role. Did LSU promise him that role, or will he compete with Garrett Nussmeier for the starting position?

Defensively, I would have liked to see the Tigers be a bit more aggressive to upgrade a terrible unit. That said, landing three talented defensive backs should help upgrade a struggling secondary that allowed 255.6 passing yards per game in 2023.

    LSU’s Transfer Portal Class, 2024

    • AJ Swann, QB, Vanderbilt
    • CJ Daniels, WR, Liberty
    • Zavion Thomas, WR, Mississippi State
    • Jyaire Brown, CB, Ohio State
    • Austin Ausberry, DB, Auburn
    • Jardin Gilbert, S, Mississippi State

    9) Texas A&M Aggies

    Total Transfers: 22
Top Offensive Transfer: Cyrus Allen, WR
Top Defensive Transfer: Dezz Ricks, CB

The Aggies and new head coach Mike Elko did everything possible to get as many transfers as possible to flip the roster. The reaction to that action is that Texas A&M also lost 21 players to the portal, including key contributors at the receiving positions and along the defensive line.

However, I love the Aggies’ haul at receiver and corner. Troy’s Jabre Barber and Louisiana Tech’s Cyrus Allen have contrasting skill sets. Yet, they might be the best one-two pass-catching portal punch in the nation.

In the secondary, the Aggies brought in seven(!) players with FBS starting experience and high-level Cal Poly transfer Donovan Saunders, who’s probably as good—if not better—than all of the FBS guys. Landing Dezz Ricks late in the cycle from Alabama is a huge get for Elko.

The Aggies did their best to replace the defensive line departures with the additions of Wisconsin’s Rodas Johnson, Bowling Green’s Cashius Howell, and Purdue’s Nic Scourton, who combined for 19 sacks in the 2023 season.

Lastly, Texas A&M landed an impactful linebacker duo in Florida’s Scooby Williams and Youngstown State’s Alex Howard, who moves up after a massive year at the FCS level.

This class can potentially be one of the best in the country, but there are too many losses (and too many unknowns) to rank the Aggies higher than ninth on this list.

Texas A&M’s Transfer Portal Class, 2024

    • EJ Smith, RB, Stanford
    • Jabre Barber, WR, Troy
    • Cyrus Allen, WR, Louisiana Tech
    • Wesley Watson, WR, Kansas State
    • Tre Watson, TE, Washington
    • Garrett Miller, TE, Purdue
    • Derrick Graham, OT, Troy
    • Dorian Hinton, IOL, Florida Atlantic
    • Cashius Howell, Edge, Bowling Green
    • Nic Scourton, Edge, Purdue
    • Rodas Johnson, DL, Wisconsin
    • Alex Howard, LB, Youngstown State
    • Scooby Williams, LB, Florida
    • Dezz Ricks, CB, Alabama
    • Will Lee, CB, Kansas State
    • Jaydon Hill, CB, Florida
    • BJ Mayes, CB, UAB
    • Donovan Saunders, DB, Cal Poly
    • De’Rickey Wright, S, Vanderbilt
    • Marcus Ratcliffe, S, San Diego State
    • Trey Jones, S, Central Michigan
    • Jared Zirkel, K, Georgia

    8) Auburn Tigers

    Total Transfers: Nine
Top Offensive Transfer: Percy Lewis, OT
Top Defensive Transfer: Jerrin Thompson, S

This is a solid but unspectacular class for Auburn. Some people within the industry thought Auburn would land a bigger name at quarterback in this portal window, and while the Tigers put out some feelers, it felt like it was less of a priority on the inside than some on the outside thought it should be.

Sam Jackson has been solid in a small sample size, but is he ready to run an SEC offense?

Percy Lewis is the star of the class. The enormous left tackle has three years remaining eligibility and will stabilize a shaky unit. Defensively, Jerrin Thompson was one of the better players on a strong Texas defense and is a major upgrade on the back end for the Tigers.

MORE: The Nick Saban Trickle-Down Effect

However, this class has more solid players than program-changers outside of those two. Robert Lewis was Georgia State’s leading receiver in 2023 but could get lost among Auburn’s numerous five-star receiving recruits.

Rico Walker is one of the best edge rushers I’ve ever scouted, but his impact has been minimal as a college tight end.

Gage Keys and Trill Carter are both solid additions and should play plenty of snaps, while Mausi has lots of experience but has been just average at the college level.

    Auburn’s Transfer Portal Class, 2024

    • Sam Jackson, QB, California
    • Robert Lewis, WR, Georgia State
    • Rico Walker, TE, Maryland
    • Percy Lewis, OT, Mississippi State
    • Gage Keys, DL, Kansas
    • Trill Carter, DL, Texas
    • Dorian Mausi, LB, Duke
    • Antonio Kite, S, Alabama
    • Jerrin Thompson, S, Texas

    7) Mississippi State Bulldogs

    Total Transfers: 15
Top Offensive Transfer: Jacoby Jackson, IOL
Top Defensive Transfer: Stone Blanton, LB

As would be expected from a team with a new head coach, the Bulldogs saw substantial turnover on their roster. Accordingly, some of the transfers are simply bodies to fill roles amidst the difficulty of putting together a class late in the process.

That said, several of these transfers have high upside and could exceed expectation.

Defensively, Stone Blanton started at South Carolina and transfers to a program he nearly committed to two years ago. The Bulldogs also took two high-upside interior lineman transfers in North Carolina’s Kedrick Bingley-Jones and Texas A&M’s Sulaiman Kpaka.

Offensively, the Bulldogs grabbed three interior offensive linemen, a group headlined by Jacoby Jackson, a two-year starter at Texas Tech. Former Baylor quarterback Blake Shapen adds an intriguing skill set to an offense in flux.

Though the receivers lack elite size, they should be a talented group, and the Bulldogs also secured some intriguing talents in brothers Cam and Justin Ball, tight ends from Buffalo and Vanderbilt, respectively.

Mississippi State’s Transfer Portal Class, 2024

    6) Arkansas Razorbacks

    Total Transfers: 13
Top Offensive Transfer: JaQuindon Jackson, RB
Top Defensive Transfer: Xavian Sorey Jr., LB

Arkansas might be higher on this list if not for the sheer number of transfer portal exits the Razorbacks endured. The program lost its top two running backs, their quarterback, both starting linebackers, and several defensive role players.

Still, the Razorbacks did a nice job of stemming the bleeding and bringing in talented replacements. JaQuindon Jackson excelled at Utah and brings a strong, downhill running style.

Taylen Green flashed elite potential at Boise State, bringing a similar play style to the departed KJ Jefferson. The Razorbacks also brought in several talented offensive linemen, including San Jose State’s Fernando Carmona, who nearly took the top offensive spot from Jackson.

Defensively, they’ll likely want one more linebacker, but Xavian Sorey is extraordinarily talented and could be in the All-SEC conversation. Miguel Mitchell and Doneiko Slaughter, safeties out of Florida and Tennessee, respectively, could come in and start immediately. Pass rusher Anton Juncaj was highly productive at Albany, and his game should translate to the SEC.

    Arkansas’ Transfer Portal Class, 2024

    • Taylen Green, QB, Boise State
    • JaQuindon Jackson, RB, Utah
    • Jordan Anthony, WR, Texas A&M
    • Andreas Paaske, TE, Eastern Michigan
    • Fernando Carmona, OT, San Jose State
    • Keyshawn Blackstock, OT, Michigan State
    • Addison Nichols, IOL, Tennessee
    • Anton Juncaj, Edge, Albany
    • Xavian Sorey, LB, Georgia
    • Marquise Robinson, CB, South Alabama
    • Doneiko Slaughter, S, Tennessee
    • Migual Mitchell, S, Florida
    • Matthew Shipley, K, Hawaii

    5) Kentucky Wildcats

    Total Transfers: 10
Top Offensive Transfer: Brock Vandergriff, QB
Top Defensive Transfer: Jamon Dumas-Johnson, LB

Kentucky is an example of how landing several high-level targets can transform a transfer portal class. The Wildcats zeroed in on Georgia quarterback Brock Vandergriff when he entered the transfer portal following Carson Beck’s decision to return for the 2024 college football season. Mark Stoops quickly landed him.

With Vandergriff in the fold, the Wildcats secured North Texas wide receiver Ja’Mori Maclin and Ohio State running back Chip Trayanum, both elite talents at the skill positions. They also added Texas A&M’s Raymond Cottrell and UAB transfer Fred Farrier.

Defensively, Kentucky again looked to a former Georgia player as its cornerstone, landing Jamon Dumas-Johnson early in the process. Alabama transfer corner Kristian Story joined later.

Kentucky also addressed the offensive line, adding Florida’s Jalen Farmer and Tennessee’s Gerald Mincey. The Wildcats bolstered their quarterback depth with Georgia Southern’s Beau Allen.

Perhaps Kentucky’s biggest win in the transfer portal was keeping its young playmakers.

At one point or another, according to my sources, it seemed that Kentucky could lose one or more of Barion Brown, Dane Key and Jordan Dingle. Dingle even entered the portal but removed his name four days later. The Wildcats kept all of them, limiting the potential damage.

    Kentucky’s Transfer Portal Class, 2024

    • Brock Vandergriff, QB, Georgia
    • Beau Allen, QB, Georgia Southern
    • Chip Trayanum, RB, Ohio State
    • Ja’Mori Maclin, WR, North Texas
    • Raymond Cottrell, WR, Texas A&M
    • Fred Farrier, WR, UAB
    • Jalen Farmer, IOL, Florida
    • Gerald Mincey, OT, Tennessee
    • Jamon Dumas-Johnson, LB, Georgia
    • Kristian Story, CB, Alabama

    4) Texas Longhorns

    Total Transfers: Seven
Top Offensive Transfer: Isaiah Bond, WR
Top Defensive Transfer: Andrew Mukuba, S

The Longhorns have only seven incoming transfers but made the most of those, picking up multiple high-level starters from last year’s top teams.

Steve Sarkisian took full advantage of Nick Saban’s retirement, poaching receiver Isaiah Bond, tight end Amari Niblack, and linebacker Kendrick Blackshire from the Crimson Tide in January.

MORE: College Football’s Best Transfers of All Time

I went back and forth about whether to rank Bond as the best offensive addition, because Texas jumped out to a hot start in the portal by grabbing Houston’s Matthew Golden early in December. The Longhorns also added versatile slot receiver Silas Bolden of Oregon State.

Defensively, the Longhorns mostly stayed pat but did land high-level safety Andrew Mukuba of Clemson, who was considered by many a top-50 pick in this year’s draft. They also added AAC Defensive Player of the Year, Trey Moore of UTSA.

    Texas’ Transfer Portal Class, 2024

    • Isaiah Bond, WR, Alabama
    • Silas Bolden, WR, Oregon State
    • Matthew Golden, WR, Houston
    • Amari Niblack, TE, Alabama
    • Trey Moore, Edge, UTSA
    • Kendrick Blackshire, LB, Alabama
    • Andrew Mukuba, S, Clemson

    3) Missouri Tigers

    Total Transfers: 10
Top Offensive Transfer: Cayden Green, IOL
Top Defensive Transfer: Toriano Pride, CB

While there’s a decent gap between the Tigers and the second-ranked team on this list, the Tigers have some impact players at the top of their class.

Cayden Green of Oklahoma was heavily recruited out of high school — and in the transfer portal — but chose to return home to play for the Tigers after just one strong season for the Sooners.

Missouri also secured a strong Sun Belt running back duo in Georgia State’s Marcus Carroll and Appalachian State’s Nate Noel. Both are physical runners who should see plenty of playing time.

Missouri beefed up its front seven with the additions of Michigan State edge rusher Zion Young, Georgia linebacker Darris Smith, Florida lineman Chris McClellan, and Miami linebacker Corey Flagg Jr.

The gem of the defensive class, however, is Clemson corner Toriano Pride, who chose to return closer to home after multiple years of high-level play. He has several years of eligibility left.

While there is little volume in this class, the Tigers addressed key needs, upgraded the defense, and found a key starter for the offensive line as they look to build on a stellar 2023 campaign.

    Missouri’s Transfer Portal Class, 2024

    • Harold Blood, QB, Southern
    • Nate Noel, RB, Appalachian State
    • Marcus Carroll, RB, Georgia State
    • Cayden Green, IOL, Oklahoma
    • Zion Young, Edge, Michigan State
    • Chris McClellan, DL, Florida
    • Sterling Webb, DL, New Mexico State
    • Darris Smith, LB, Georgia
    • Corey Flagg Jr., LB, Georgia
    • Toriano Pride, CB, Clemson

    2) South Carolina Gamecocks

    Total Transfers: 18
Top Offensive Transfer: Raheim Sanders, RB
Top Defensive Transfer: Kyle Kennard, Edge

South Carolina has put together an impressive transfer class for the second time in three years. The Gamecocks were victims of the transfer portal out of the gate but quietly pieced together one of the strongest incoming classes in the conference, led by a total transformation of the running back room.

Offensively, the Gamecocks took a dismal-looking running back room and completely transformed it into one of the better groups in the conference. The headliner here is obviously Raheim “Rocket” Sanders, the former Arkansas All-Conference running back.

However, the Gamecocks added two other impressive backs in Oscar Adaway III of North Texas and Jawarn Howell of SC State.

Howell could be a diamond in the rough as the former Bulldog back ran for 528 yards and seven touchdowns in his last three games before getting hurt. The game-changing rusher has three years of eligibility remaining.

At receiver, there’s no superstar in the vein of Antwane Wells, but the group should be deeper and more balanced this season. Last year, Xavier Legette did almost everything for the Gamecock receiving corps. This year, Ahmari Huggins-Bruce (Louisville), Jared Brown (Coastal Carolina), and Miami (OH) WR Gage Larvadain should make excellent additions to a young room.

Behind the scenes, I continue to hear that North Carolina Central center Torricelli Simpkins can potentially be a multi-year starter at the SEC level. Rounding out the offensive class are tight end Brady Hunt of Ball State and former Auburn starting quarterback Robbie Ashford.

The Gamecocks are extremely high on redshirt freshman LaNorris Sellers, so finding a quarterback in the transfer portal proved difficult. Robbie Ashford is not guaranteed the starting position and could play primarily as a backup and Wildcat quarterback.

The Gamecocks also snagged a couple of potential depth pieces from Oklahoma in walk-on quarterback Davis Beville and reserve offensive tackle Aaryn Parks.

Defensively, the Gamecocks revamped the linebacker room after losing some key pieces, upgraded the defensive line, and added a depth piece in the secondary.

Kyle Kennard (Georgia Tech) and linebacker Bangally Kamara (Pittsburgh) are the gems of the class. The Gamecocks also added DeAndre Jules of Pittsburgh, who has NFL potential as a defensive lineman, Alabama reserve lineman Monkell Goodwine, and return former defensive lineman Gilber Edmond, who departed for Florida State in the transfer portal last year.

In the back seven, the Gamecocks added tackling machine Demetrius Knight from Charlotte and safety Gerald Kilgore, older brother of All-Freshman SEC defensive back Jalon Kilgore.

South Carolina’s Transfer Portal Class, 2024

    • Robbie Ashford, QB, Auburn
    • Davis Beville, QB, Oklahoma
    • Rocket Sanders, RB, Arkansas
    • Oscar Adaway III, RB, North Texas
    • Jawarn Howell, RB, South Carolina State
    • Ahmari Huggins-Bruce, WR, Louisville
    • Gage Larvadain, WR, Miami (OH)
    • Jared Brown, WR, Coastal Carolina
    • Brady Hunt, TE, Ball State
    • Torcelli Simpkins, IOL, North Carolina Central
    • Aaryn Parks, OT, Oklahoma
    • Kyle Kennard, Edge, Georgia Tech
    • Gilber Edmond, Edge, Florida State
    • DeAndre Jules, DL, Pittsburgh
    • Monkell Goodwine, DL, Alabama
    • Bangally Kamara, LB, Pittsburgh
    • Demetrius Knight, LB, Charlotte
    • Gerald Kilgore, DB, Tennessee Tech

    1) Ole Miss Rebels

    Total Transfers: 15
Top Offensive Transfer: Antwane Wells Jr., WR
Top Defensive Transfer: Walter Nolen, DL

Ole Miss is the king of the transfer portal in the SEC this offseason. The Rebels kicked things off with a bang by quickly landing transfer receivers Antwane Wells Jr. from South Carolina and Devin Price from FAU.

Lane Kiffin’s team then added multiple other high-profile transfers at various positions of need across the board.

MORE: Spring Transfer Portal Rules Explained

The offensive and defensive lines got major overhauls in the portal as the Rebels landed Diego Pounds of North Carolina and Southern Mississippi’s Gerquan Scott on the offensive side of the ball. Defensively, the Rebels added Princely Umanmielen, formerly of Florida, and Texas A&M transfer Walter Nolan. They’re both impact transfers with SEC experience.

Recently, the Rebels have addressed the secondary, landing four potential starters, including Trey Amos of Alabama and Michigan’s Amarion Walker.

After losing running back Quinshon Judkins to Ohio State, the Rebels quickly pivoted and brought in Logan Diggs, formerly of LSU and Notre Dame.

Everywhere the Rebels lost an impact player, either to the transfer portal or the draft, they replaced or upgraded with a similarly talented or elite player. The receiving corps next year should be much improved, as should both groups along the lines of scrimmage.

Ole Miss’ Transfer Portal Class, 2024

    • Logan Diggs, RB, LSU
    • Antwane Wells, WR, South Carolina
    • Devin Price, WR, FAU
    • Dae-Quan Wright, TE, Virginia Tech
    • Gerquan Scott, IOL, Southern Miss
    • Diego Pounds, OT, North Carolina
    • Walter Nolen, DL, Texas A&M
    • Princely Umanmielen, DL, Florida
    • Trey Amos, CB, Alabama
    • Amarion Walker, CB, Michigan
    • Yam Banks, CB, South Alabama
    • Christopher Paul Jr., DB, Arkansas
    • Brandon Turnage, S, Tennessee
    • Key Lawrence, S, Oklahoma
    • Louis Moore, S, Indiana
