“He’s Going To Make Somebody Miss”: Travis Kelce Makes Feelings Known on Rashee Rice’s Return and Impact on Chiefs Offense

Rashee Rice returned to action over the weekend after a six-game suspension from the NFL. The Kansas City Chiefs’ wide receiver was the second-best receiver for his team behind Travis Kelce in Week 7’s victory over the Las Vegas Raiders, 31-0.

During the game, the Chiefs looked better than they ever did this season. Speaking this week on the “New Heights” podcast with his brother, Jason Kelce, Travis explained why having Rice in the lineup exponentially improves Kansas City as a football team. He said (15:00):

“You know, that’s that’s really where we we missed him last year and we missed him a lot, uh, early on this season is the fact that, you know, we can just get him the ball anywhere on the field and he’s going to make somebody miss and that’s a hell of a skill to have or a hell of a, uh, you know, advantage to have on the offensive side of the ball ‘cuz a lot of the a lot of the, you know, opportunities you get in the NFL is a one-on-one opportunity and if you make that guy miss and you gain those extra yards, man, yeah, we’re, uh, we’re rolling.”

Rashee Rice had 42 receiving yards, with two touchdown catches in seven receptions. He had the most productive day of any Kansas City receiver, as no one else had two touchdowns.

    Why Was Rashee Rice Suspended?

Rashee Rice was suspended for six games this season for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy. He was involved in a multicar high-speed crash, which left multiple people injured in March 2024.

In July this year, he was sentenced to 30 days in jail and five years of probation for his role in the incident. Rice pleaded guilty in district court to two third-degree felony charges:  collision involving serious bodily injury and racing on a highway, causing bodily injury. He was given deferred adjudication, and if he completes his probation period, the charges will be dismissed.
