Te-Hina PaoPao revealed biggest learning in her rookie year

Te-Hina PaoPao has been a fan favorite since college, where she played for Oregon and South Carolina. Taking lessons from her college stint to head into the WNBA, she has managed to live up to the expectations so far. She’s only going to improve from here based on the opportunities she gets.

While speaking to the media on Aug. 1, PaoPao revealed an area she has identified where she can get better. PaoPao said:

“Defense. I mean, the offense is always going to be there, but defense, you’ve got to move them puppies, and it’s a different world out there on the defensive end when you’re on an island with the best players in the world.”

“And I’m still learning to get over ball screens, because they’ve run so many ball screens during the whole game. I’m tired of ball screens, but at the end of the day, I’ve got to get over ball screens and just do that for my teammates, because I know they’re depending on me to guard my yard.”

Te-Hina PaoPao said that she understands the mental strength it takes to be a great defensive player. But the most important thing is that she is willing to put in the required work. Players, especially in today’s game, don’t pay much attention to defense.
