Carson Beck is getting ready for his final season of college football at Miami, after having transferred from Georgia earlier in the year. Beck is currently recovering from an injury he suffered last year with the Bulldogs during the SEC championship game against the Texas Longhorns.
Carson had a right elbow injury that required surgery to repair the ulnar collateral ligament (UCL). The injury meant that his season ended in the most important moment of the season, mere weeks ahead of the College Football Playoff quarterfinal against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
Now, having been given a second chance with the Hurricanes, Beck just wants to get back into the field and play some football.
Asked recently at a press conference if he finds it difficult to replace Cam Ward, Carson Beck said:
“To have the opportunity to go out and play football again, I haven’t done it in a while so I’m looking forward to it.”

Cam Ward had a similar path to Beck’s arrival in Miami. While he wasn’t a quarterback at a top program like Beck, Ward also arrived at Miami for the final season of his collegiate career. The bet paid off, as he would go on to become the first overall pick of the 2025 NFL Draft.

Mario Cristobal Expresses Confidence in Carson Beck’s Abilities
Miami Hurricanes head coach Mario Cristobal also got into the issue recently, during an appearance on the “Joe Rose Show”. When asked about how difficult it would be for Carson Beck to replace Cam Ward, Cristobal bluntly said:
“Let’s call it what it is — last year at this time, Carson Beck was the projected number one quarterback in the draft and Cam Ward was the 5th-round projection.”

That’s a clear sign of Cristobal’s confidence in Carson Beck. The former Georgia man certainly has the raw quality to become a top pick in next year’s NFL Draft.
