The organizers of the SEC media days had an embarrassing gaffe during Steve Sarkisian’s press conference this Tuesday. When the Texas Longhorns’ head coach walked out to the podium, the organizers played the fight song of the wrong team. Adding insult to injury, they played the song of the Longhorns’ in-state rival, the Texas A&M Aggies.

Fans online quickly caught on to the mistake, and they reacted to it on X.
“Poverty conference” wrote one fan.
“What a joke of a conference 😭😭😭😭✌️✌️✌️” joked someone else.
“Did he even notice?” wondered someone.
Some thought that the choice was no mistake, but an intentional act:
“Lmao even the sec clowns them lol 😂” said one fan.
“Accidentally” ironically wrote another person.
One person questioned Steve Sarkisian’s reaction, or lack thereof:
“Steve, buddy… say something, man,” said an Aggies fan.

Steve Sarkisian on what the change to SEC meant for Texas Longhorns
One of the first things Steve Sarkisian got into during his press conference in Atlanta was how successful he thinks the change to the SEC has been for the school:
“Year 2 in the SEC. It’s gone fast. Year 1 was a great year for us. Making it to the SEC Championship game in year 1, going to back-to-back College Football Playoff Semifinals, having 12 players drafted off of last year’s team, 23 drafted in the last two years, leading the country there. It speaks to the development, I think, that we have going on in our program, speaks to the recruiting that’s happening.”
However, he didn’t shy away from the pressure. Sarkisian knows that he’s expected to bring a national title to Austin, something which he has failed to do in the last two seasons:
“But this is a new year, new faces, new team, and obviously expectations are high for our program. I’m not naive to that. I don’t put my head in the sand, and expectations are very high.”
According to ESPN Bet, the Texas Longhorns are the favorite to win the national championship in 2025. They have odds of +550 and are tied in the top spot with the current reigning champions, Ohio State, who share the same odds.
Not only that, but their starting quarterback, Arch Manning, is the clear favorite to win the Heisman Trophy according to the oddsmakers. BetMGM currently gives him odds of +600 to win the award, even though he has only started two games in his career.
If the Longhorns fail to live up to the hype of the 2025 season, Sarkisian might start to feel his seat getting hot.
