Oklahoma transfer wide receiver Nic Anderson was reportedly involved in a car accident Friday night, just weeks ahead of his debut for Brian Kelly’s LSU Tigers. The Tigers’ head coach confirmed the development to The Advocate and said the injury is not “as bad.”
However, the wide receiver will miss about a week of the offseason program at LSU. Kelly also compared the accident with redshirt freshman quarterback Colin Hurley’s car accident in January. Even Hurley, for that matter, has joined the Tigers already.
LSU WR Nic Anderson was in a car accident Friday night and needed medical treatment, Brian Kelly told me, but it’s not going to sideline him long. He’s expected to practice at the start of camp.

During the SEC Media Day on Monday, Kelly said:
“It wasn’t quite as bad as Colin Hurley’s, which was life-threatening, but enough that he had to get checked in and stayed overnight for observations. But he comes out of it really good.”
“We think that this is going to be short term, a week or so, and then he’ll be back at it,” Kelly added.
Nic Anderson’s Injury Concerns With Oklahoma Heading into Season With LSU
Nic Anderson missed nearly the entire season with a quadriceps tear in 2024 at Oklahoma. Due to that, he remained limited in LSU’s spring practices. Talking about it, Brian Kelly said during Spring Camp:
“I think he was a little slowed by an injury that was lingering. We just wanted to be patient with him,” Kelly said during Spring Camp. “Nic’s a smart kid. He knows his body. He’s not a guy that you have to push and say, ‘Hey, you know, get out there.’
“When he’s ready, he’s going to go compete. I think he just has a maturity about him that you don’t have to worry about…And as he’s gotten healthy, you can see the kind of presence that he has.”
Nic Anderson could be a big weapon who could help LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier. He is 6-foot-4 and weighs 210 pounds, a perfect size for a receiver looking to get through SEC defenses. In his sophomore year, he recorded 798 yards and 10 TDs at Oklahoma.
“He’s big, he’s physical, he’s athletic. I’m excited about him,” Kelly said. “I think he’s going to be a guy that’s going to win some key one-on-one matchups for us with his physicality.”
Without Nic Anderson, LSU’s depth at wide receiver will rely more heavily on familiar names like Aaron Anderson, Chris Hilton Jr. and freshman Destyn Hill.
