Michigan’s $3M NIL-Valued QB Bryce Underwood Makes ‘Explosive’ Claim After Losing 15 Pounds Ahead of 2025 Debut

Michigan Wolverines quarterback Bryce Underwood has made a claim ahead of his college football debut that should ignite excitement for next season. Underwood, who already has an NIL value of $3 million per On3 despite just finishing his high school football stint, was interviewed by The Wolverine On3 recently on an article published on Saturday, July 13.

In the report by college football writer Clayton Sayfie, Underwood was asked about how his offseason preparations have been as he uncorks his first taste of collegiate football with coach Sherrone Moore’s Wolverines in the 2025 campaign. Underwood then shared what he has done with his skill set to become more of a force as a quarterback.

“Michigan QB Bryce Underwood to @TheWolverineOn3: “I came in at 215. I weigh 230 right now. I feel like it’s made me more explosive. They help with our speed and everything like that, so I feel faster than I usually do,” @CSayf23 captioned on X.

Underwood is coming off of his stellar high school football tenure at Belleville High School, where he was known to be an explosive and agile passer and runner with his 6-foot-4, 208-pound frame. With this, he became the top-ranked prospect among all five-star recruits in the high school class of 2025, per 247Sports, generating all the hype surrounding him regarding a potential star college football career.

The Belleville, Michigan native committed to play for the Wolverines back in November of 2024, as he posted on his Instagram account, which caused him to decommit from his initial commitment to coach Brian Kelly’s LSU Tigers. Later on in December of last year, Underwood officially signed with the Wolverines and enrolled a month later. Since then, Underwood has been actively training with the team as he wrapped up high school.

With the way Underwood has put on more weight towards his frame, he can instantly be a tool for success for Michigan’s second year under the tutelage of coach Moore, who will field in the likes of Fresno State Bulldogs transfer Mikey Keene and incoming junior quarterback Alex Orji.

The Michigan Wolverines Won The 2025 Reliaquest Bowl Under Coach Sherrone Moore’s First Year

When Sherrone Moore succeeded Jim Harbaugh as head coach back in the 2024 season, there were speculations on how the Michigan Wolverines would fare under his tutelage. Moore then took this as a challenge and spearheaded the Wolverines to finish the 2025 campaign with an overall record of 7-5 (5-4, Big Ten). This also included Michigan winning this year’s Reliaquest Bowl against the Alabama Crimson Tide with a six-point lead, 19-13.

The likes of Bryce Underwood now join a Wolverines squad that will open their 2025 season on Aug. 30 in a home opener against the New Mexico Lobos.
