There are a lot of players coming in with a lot of hype this year, and with that hype comes a lot of pressure to win it all. Analyst Paul Finebaum believes that the player coming in with the most pressure to win in the 2025 College Football season is none other than Texas quarterback Arch Manning.
The ESPN analyst noted that Manning will be panned by critics everywhere should the Longhorns underperform next season. To add to that, he has the Manning name to live up to, especially as his uncles are legends like Eli and Peyton Manning.
“It is the greatest player in the history of college football, Arch Manning,” said Finebaum on Get Up ESPN. “I don’t know what else we can say about him, but we’ll keep saying it. But unfortunately, that comes with pressure. Everyone will be watching him against Ohio State on that first Saturday, and if he doesn’t perform, the critics will rain down.”
It was also pointed out during Finebaum’s appearance on “Get Up ESPN” that Arch Manning will be entering the 2025 College Football season as one of the early favorites to win the Heisman Trophy. With his supporting cast at Texas, Manning also has a big chance to go all the way this season, being a favorite to win a national championship at Austin this year.
This is a lot of pressure for Arch Manning, especially as this would be his first season actually starting for Texas, having spent his first two years as a reserve quarterback there.
Finebaum then explained why he believes in Arch Manning despite all the pressure levied on him:
“I am as married to Arch Manning as an old geezer like me can be to a young, great college quarterback, but I like everything about him and I think you said something. The Manning name matters, but it isn’t going to matter that field in a couple of weeks at Ohio State.”

Arch Manning’s Texas Get High Win Rating ahead of College Football season
With many analysts projecting Texas as a favorite to win it all, it has put more pressure on Arch Manning’s back. FanDuel Sportsbook has released its projected win total for Texas, and it is quite high. According to FanDuel, Texas’ projected win rating is 9.5 ahead of the 2025 College Football season.
Texas also has a very tough stretch of non-conference road games in October, visiting Florida, Oklahoma (Dallas), Kentucky, and Mississippi State. Should Texas do well, in that road trip, then the Longhorns might get another trip to the SEC Championship Game.
