“Mommy Had To Take Care of Some Business”: When Deion Sanders’ Ex-Wife Pilar Revealed Why She Couldn’t Move to Boulder

It was February 2023, and Deion Sanders had recently taken over the Colorado Buffaloes football program. Along with him to Boulder came his three youngest children, Shelomi, Shilo and Shedeur Sanders. They were the fruit of the relationship between Prime and his former wife, model Pilar Sanders.

At the time, the Sanders kids seemed to miss their mother, and they begged her to come to Boulder to check up on them. Pilar Sanders saved the moment for posterity by posting a video on her YouTube channel in 2023, in which she initially explained that her children begged her to move to Boulder, but she couldn’t because she had to take care of her business career:

“My babies have been calling for me over and over, literally every single day but mommy had to take care of some business” (0:20)

The video showed Pilar hanging out mainly with Shelomi Sanders, walking around the athletic facilities of the University of Colorado, and finally going to a movie theater to watch ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’. In the end, they told fans they were preparing to watch Shilo Sanders model in the New York Fashion Week.

How did Deion Sanders’ kids do during their stints at Colorado?

Shelomi, Shilo and Shedeur Sanders would go on to have different degrees of success at Colorado. Shelomi, who played basketball for the Buffaloes, barely saw any minutes in the 2023 season and transferred to Alabama A&M for the 2024 season. Shilo did become a regular starter for the Colorado Buffaloes at safety, but never truly became a star. In the end, he went undrafted in the 2025 NFL Draft and signed an undrafted free agent deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Shedeur was by far the most successful of the siblings at Colorado. In 2024, he won the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm and the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year awards. He was also a First Team All-Big 12 selection and became the single-season all-time passing yards leader for the Buffs.

While many expected him to be a high first-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, and some even harbored hopes of him becoming the first overall pick of the draft, Shedeur suffered one of the most infamous debacles in the history of the event. He eventually wound up being picked by the Cleveland Browns in the fifth round of the event, a team Deion Sanders had specifically said he wouldn’t want his son to end up at.
