IN PICS: Colorado’s JuJu Lewis Hilariously Gives Coach Prime Side-Eyes As Colorado HC Hugs Aunt

Julian Lewis, also known as JuJu Lewis, is one of the biggest young stars on the Colorado Buffaloes. The five-star recruit joined the Buffaloes as part of the 2025 recruiting class and is expected to be the successor to Shedeur Sanders at the quarterback position. On Wednesday, he attended the Big 12 media days alongside many other members of the Buffaloes.

One of the other people who was at the Big 12 media days was Colorado head coach Deion Sanders, also known as Coach Prime. Sanders appeared for interviews on Wednesday and also met with members of the Buffaloes. A funny interaction between Coach Prime, JuJu Lewis and Lewis’s aunt was caught in a few photos and posted on X on Thursday morning.

In the photos, Coach Prime is giving Lewis’s aunt a hug. Lewis can be seen in the background making a funny face and giving his coach side eye.

JuJu Lewis Will Try To Win the Starting Job on the Colorado Buffaloes Next Season

Quarterback JuJu Lewis is a five-star recruit and one of the most highly ranked players in his recruiting class. However, that does not mean that he is ready to take on the starting job next season. It is possible that he could win the job, but that is far from a guarantee. As a result, Coach Prime and the Buffaloes brought in Liberty transfer Kaidon Salter to compete for the starting job.

At the Big 12 media days on Wednesday, Coach Prime declined to make a definitive statement about who will be the Week 1 starter.

“We brought both of them because I don’t know which one is going to start,” Sanders said.

Julian Lewis also commented on the quarterback battle between himself and Salter.

“I think we both want to play,” Lewis said. “I understand that the best man is going to play. Coach Prime has made it very clear and Coach [Pat] Shurmur has made it very clear that the best man is going to play. Regardless of what happens, I’m going to respect it.”

A final decision on the Week 1 starter likely will not be made until shortly before the start of the season.
