$60M Worth Deion Sanders Teases Addition of 2 Legendary NFL Coaches to Colorado’s Staff

Deion Sanders revealed some exciting news about the future of his Colorado coaching staff. According to DNVR Buffs reporter Jake Schwanitz, Coach Prime announced at Big 12 Media Day that he’s waiting to hear from Byron Leftwich and Mike Zimmer about joining the Buffaloes coaching staff.

Both Leftwich and Zimmer would be big pickups for Colorado. Leftwich is a former NFL quarterback who has coached at the professional level, most recently serving as an offensive coordinator for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

In March, it was reported that Leftwich had left his position with Tampa Bay in order to accept a position as an assistant coach at Colorado. But, Sanders’ update suggests that Leftwich has not made a final decision.

Zimmer has extensive coaching experience. His NFL coaching career dates back to 1994, and he served as the head coach of the Minnesota Vikings from 2014-2021. Most recently, Zimmer worked for the Dallas Cowboys as a defensive coordinator.

Zimmer was seen at a Buffaloes practice this spring, fueling speculation that he may join Deion Sanders’ coaching staff.

Coach Prime, who is worth $60 million, as per Celebrity Net Worth, is still waiting to hear if Leftwich and Zimmer will join him in leading Colorado this fall. But, it seems that the experienced coaches have shown interest in working alongside Sanders.

Deion Sanders shuts down conversations about his health at Big 12 Media Days

It’s no secret that Deion Sanders has been struggling with health issues this offseason. He has been noticeably missing from Colorado team workouts this summer, and there were doubts about whether he would even attend Big 12 Media Days.

Adam Munsterteiger of BuffStampede expressed on Friday that he hoped Coach Prime would be at the preseason event.

”I think, especially with Big 12 Media Days coming up, you just hope that Coach Prime is able to make it out there,” Munsterteiger said. “He’s still on the schedule out there, and he would be the last coach to address the media.”

Sanders did end up attending Big 12 Media Days, but he made it clear he wasn’t interested in discussing his health.

DNVR Buffs reporter Scott Procter shared what the Colorado coach had to say about the topic.

“I’m not here to talk about my health,” Sanders said. “I’m here to talk about my team.”

Deion Sanders’ health issues are nothing new but seem to have escalated as of late. Two years ago, he underwent a nine-hour operation on his foot. He has also had two toes amputated due to complications from an operation.

Last month, Coach Prime said his current situation “is at a whole other level” and that he has lost 14 pounds. He will aim to recover in order to coach Colorado this fall.
