Will Dylan Harper Get Drafted? Top 5 NBA Landing Spots for the Rutgers Star

With the NBA draft already happening next week, there are now some questions regarding Dylan Harper as the No. 2 pick by the San Antonio Spurs. Draft analysts agree that the Rutgers star is the probable No. 2 pick, but there are some talks that the Spurs might pick Baylor’s VJ Edgecombe at No. 2 instead.

It is still unknown what might happen in next week’s draft, as anything is possible. So, where might the son of former Michael Jordan teammate Ron Harper land? As a freshman guard. Harper averaged 19.4 points, 4.6 rebounds, and four assists per game for the Scarlet Knights, and he did this while sharing the spotlight with potential No. 3 pick Ace Bailey. This makes a lot of teams interested in him.

Top 5 possible teams that Dylan Harper might play for

    5 – Charlotte Hornets

This one is a bit of a long shot, but with various storylines happening around the No. 2 and No. 3 picks, anything can happen. The Hornets have the No. 4 pick currently, and should Bailey somehow slide down the draft, with the Spurs going for Edgecombe and Philadelphia going for Bailey, this is not impossible. Add to the fact that Dylan Harper’s dad won a championship with Hornets minority owner Michael Jordan, and then anything can happen.

    2 – Brooklyn Nets

Should the San Antonio Spurs pick Dylan Harper as the No. 2 pick, it would not be surprising that they might want to trade the incoming rookie guard. One of the possible landing spots is Brooklyn, which may look to him for bigger offensive responsibilities. In return, the Spurs might be offered players such as Cameron Johnson and Nic Claxton, who are seen to complement Victor Wembanyama well.

    3 – Milwaukee Bucks

The Bucks are a major possibility for young Harper, as the Spurs may use their No. 2 pick to get Giannis Antetokounmpo in a trade, along with several other players in the mix as the team tries to rebuild. Harper may be the center of that rebuilding process.

    2 – Philadelphia 76ers

Should San Antonio go for VJ Edgecombe, it is very possible that the 76ers will pick Dylan Harper. The Sixers have been having some trouble with Harper’s Rutgers teammate, Ace Bailey, with Bailey cancelling practice with the Sixers staff and not returning their calls. The organization has reportedly been souring on Bailey, and this may lead them to pick either Edgecombe if the Spurs pick Harper, or Harper if the Spurs pick Bailey.

    1 – San Antonio Spurs

The San Antonio Spurs are looking for players to build around Wemby, and with the No. 2 pick, they have the power to use that to their advantage and trade, possibly handing whoever they pick to other teams for players that complement their star big man. However, there is also a big possibility that the team chooses to keep Harper, with the Spurs having multiple solid options on hand.
