With BYU and Kansas Offers, Maximo Adams Erupts for 38 at Nike EYBL

Adams delivered one of the standout performances of the Nike EYBL weekend, exploding for 38 points and 17 rebounds to lead Vegas Elite to a win over previously unbeaten Team Takeover. The 6-foot-6 small forward from Sierra Canyon (California) wasted no time making an impact in his debut with Vegas Elite, seizing the spotlight in front of college coaches and scouts.

Adams began the spring EYBL season with Team WhyNot, where he posted averages of 9.3 points and 3.0 rebounds per game while shooting 42.3% from the field. Now with Vegas Elite, he joins a talented roster that includes ranked prospects Anthony Felesi, Katrelle Harmon, and Mariano Manciel.

Adams has described himself as a two or three who can defend multiple positions, rebound, and score from midrange.

“This summer, I want to show coaches I can play the right way and find my teammates,” he said.

Recruitment interest continues to grow for Adams, who holds offers from BYU and Kansas. He is also receiving strong interest from Oregon, SMU, and USC. He shared updates on those schools and his developing relationships with each staff member.

    Regarding Oregon:

“I’m planning on taking an official visit to Oregon soon, probably next month. Coach Mike [Mennenga] the assistant coach, he’s been contacting me, talking to me every day. We’ve been building a great relationship.”

    On SMU:

“Jay Morris was the coach that was at USC, and he just transferred in as an assistant coach. And also Andy Enfield. They’ve been talking to me.”

Adams is ranked No. 56 nationally in the 2026 class by 247Sports. His recent play has pushed him up recruiting boards, with On3, Rivals, and ESPN placing him in the top 25 — some as high as No. 16. Evaluators have praised his upside and see five-star potential if his perimeter game continues to progress.

His breakout year at Sierra Canyon included leading the team through Mission League competition and into the state final, with key postseason wins over Redondo Union and JSerra.
