2024 Heisman Trophy Odds: Travis Hunter Soars to the Top As Cam Ward Tumbles

The latest Heisman Odds place Travis Hunter at No. 1 with a resurgent Ashton Jeanty at No. 2, all well above Cam Ward, who takes a serious tumble following Week 11.

It’s looking more and more like a three-man race for the 2024 Heisman Trophy as the latest Heisman odds put a new leader atop the board. That man, of course, is Mr. Do Everything Travis Hunter of the Colorado Buffaloes.

Travis Hunter Heisman Odds: +130 (was +220)

Hunter is back to form, clearly, after returning in a limited capacity earlier in the year. Against Texas Tech, Hunter flashed the same form we’ve become accustomed to seeing, scoring a touchdown on offense and reeling in an interception (that didn’t stand due to a penalty elsewhere) on defense.

Hunter hasn’t allowed a touchdown on defense, sticking to receivers like glue while he’s reached the end zone nine times on offense. He’s playing more snaps than anyone in the country and he’s doing so at all-time elite levels.

Combine that with the fact that Colorado is in sole possession of second place in the Big 12 and likely in the top 20 of the College Football Playoff Rankings, and you’ve got a surefire Heisman favorite.

Ashton Jeanty Heisman Odds: +300 (was +500)

Back to his old ways, Boise State Broncos RB Ashton Jeanty was dominant once again in Week 11, scoring three touchdowns and going over 200 yards once again. Against Nevada, Jeanty ran it 33 times for 205 yards and three scores, showing his contact balance, elusiveness, and vision on multiple occasions.

Jeanty now has a comfortable 400-plus yard lead over the nation’s running backs with his 1,734 yards while he’s score two more touchdowns than anyone else this season too.

He’s the lifeblood of the Broncos and the reason they’re ranked 12th in the first iteration of the College Football Playoff Rankings. Another reason to like his Heisman odds is the fact that the Broncos have three winnable games on the horizon and a Mountain West Championship Game to likely pad his stats and reach some historic levels.

Dillon Gabriel Heisman Odds: +300 (was +290)

The best player on the best team in the country will always get the benefit of the doubt and that’s just what Dillon Gabriel is doing right now for the Oregon Ducks. Gabriel threw for only 183 yards against Maryland but tossed three passing touchdowns to reach 22 on the year.

But those three touchdowns this week gave him the all-time lead in career passing touchdowns in the process and as long as he keeps setting records in 2024, he’ll receive more than just the benefit of the doubt for being the nucleus of the Ducks.

In fact, with two winnable games left and a potential rematch with Ohio State, it could be said that Gabriel has the biggest potential Heisman moment left if he can once again topple the Buckeyes.

Cameron Ward Heisman Odds: +800 (was +200)

Cam Ward’s odds were completely slashed following a disastrous ending to the game against Georgia Tech. And yet, he still leads the nation in passing yards at 3,494 and passing touchdowns with 32.

A lone slip-up is OK, but compounded with the close calls from Miami this year, this one felt inevitable. Sometimes, these slip-ups come so late in the season that his odds cannot come back to the top, but Ward’s falter here is teetering on that line.

They control their destiny in the ACC and Ward would need a big-time performance against SMU in the ACC Championship Game to get him back to the top it appears.

Kurtis Rourke Heisman Odds: +1500 (was +2200)

It’s time we start realistically talking about Kurtis Rourke as the Heisman-Favorite-Not-Name-Dillon-Gabriel from the Big Ten. Rourke has the Indiana Hoosiers at 10-0 for the first time in program history and has looked incredibly sharp in doing so.

His ball placement is on another level and he’s averaging 10.4 yards per attempt, second in the nation. With 2,410 yards and 21 touchdowns, he’s trailing Gabriel and Ward in each category as well as odds, but he’s got his team far outpacing expectations compared to the others.

A win against Ohio State would put Rourke’s odds incredibly short and put them into the Big Ten Championship. All that to say, if you’re a believer in Rourke, you probably already have your tickets. But if you’ve new to Rourke’s game, then get your tickets now as this will be the lowest price until the results of the OSU-IU game.

Jalen Milroe Heisman Odds: +1800 (was +5000)

After a ridiculous four-touchdown game against LSU, Alabama’s Jalen Milroe has rocketed back into the picture. For Milroe, however, he’ll probably need some help to get back into the top of the Heisman table, but performances like the one he had against LSU can surely do that.

The Crimson Tide are still a ways away from returning to the SEC Championship Game without some help, but if they do get there, Milroe has to be the catalyst and his odds would look like it.

It’s a long shot for Milroe right now, but if Jayden Daniels proved anything last year, it’s that a multi-loss SEC QB can get the job done in terms of winning the Heisman.
