Ole Miss Rebels head coach Lane Kiffin expressed his disappointment with the way the Mississippi State Bulldogs’ sideline reacted to the on-field altercation in the second quarter of the Egg Bowl game.
Ole Miss QB Trinidad Chambliss was hit, and in the first instance, it appeared that the Bulldogs recovered the fumble. After that tackle, a melee began when Dae’Quan Wright (Ole Miss TE) and Tyler Lockhart (Mississippi State player) got into a verbal exchange. It went from conversations to getting physical.
In the aftermath of this on-field scuffle, the whole of Mississippi State’s bench, including their athletic director, were ready to rumble on the field. Meanwhile, Ole Miss remained calm.
After the game, Kiffin, who is worth $14 million (via Celebrity Net Worth), called out the Bulldogs, saying:
“Well, we just trying to play clean football, man. We try to execute and play really good football. For a whole sideline to try to fight and leave their whole sideline, including their athletic director? I’ve never seen anything like it. So, I’m just reminding them, like, we’re trying to play football here. We’re not trying to start a fight so, you know, our university can get credit for fighting people.”
While no one was ejected from the game, several players were penalized, including Ole Miss’s Deuce Alexander and Delano Townsend, and Mississippi State’s Malick Sylla.
“We’re good,” Kiffin added. “Our guys stay on the sideline like they’re supposed to.”

Lane Kiffin Reacts To Coaching Rumor Ahead Of Egg Bowl Game
Lane Kiffin has been subject to intense speculation as his name continuously gets mentioned as the top candidate for jobs at LSU and Florida. Both programs are looking for a new head coach.
Despite the unwanted attention, Kiffin is focused on the job at hand. Kiffin called these speculations but nothing more than rumors.
“But, hey, today is about this game. And like you said, 11 wins potentially for the first time in school history,” Kiffin said. “That’s the first time for 11 wins in the entire state, by any program, in the regular season. So, a lot on the line, and our guys are focused and ready to play.”
Ole Miss is currently leading the Egg Bowl game 31-13 in the fourth quarter.
