Hannah Stuelke has risen from the Iowa Hawkeye bench to a bonafide star. This year, the junior forward and 2022 Iowa Miss Basketball was second on the team in points—averaging 12.8 a game—and led the team in rebounds per game with 7.9.

Who Are Hannah Stuelke’s Parents?
Hannah Stuelke was born in July of 2003 to Mario Stuelke and JoAnna Mantz Stuelke, both former basketball players.
Mario, a native of Antigua and Barbuda, played basketball for Princess Margaret Secondary School in his homeland before moving to the United States and attending Missouri Western State University. There, he played for the Griffons, a Division II program in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association.
JoAnna played for Illinois State before moving to Missouri Western, where the couple met. The two separated shortly before Hannah’s birth, and Mario returned to Antigua and Barbuda. Hannah stayed with her mother, who married Michael Mantz in 2005.
Now, JoAnna is a Children’s Ministry Director at River of Life Church.
But it was her father, Mario, who introduced Hannah to basketball. A forward himself, Mario played for Antigua and Barbuda’s national basketball team until 2018 and the F&G Trading Cuties Ovals Ojays in the Antigua & Barbuda Basketball Association until 2023.

Mario often posts about Hannah on social media, and JoAnna is a frequent attendee of her games. JoAnna and Michael often travel the country to attend Hannah’s away games.
“It is a lot of fun. We make a lot of memories, and we travel as a family, so Joanna’s mom and her sister come with us to all the games,” Michael said.
Hannah and the No. 6 seed Iowa Hawkeyes will open March Madness play with a matchup on Saturday, March 22, against No. 11 seed Murray State.
