Behind every exceptional athlete stands a foundation of unwavering support. For TCU basketball star Hailey Van Lith, that foundation was built by her parents, Corey and Jessica Van Lith, who nurtured her journey from a small Washington town to Olympic glory.
The Van Liths have been more than just spectators in Hailey’s remarkable career. From intense late-night training sessions to courtside celebrations, Corey and Jessica have shaped not only an elite basketball player but also a determined young woman whose resilience mirrors their own steadfast commitment.

The Father-Coach Dynamic: Corey Van Lith
Corey Van Lith, a former collegiate athlete who played basketball and baseball at the University of Puget Sound, recognized his daughter’s potential early. By fifth grade, he implemented rigorous training sessions four to five nights weekly at John Newberry gym in Cashmere, Washington.
His coaching style, demanding yet supportive, has been pivotal in developing Hailey’s renowned work ethic. The father-daughter relationship weathered practice sessions that occasionally ended in arguments, but Hailey’s determination always brought her back to the court the following day.
Corey’s athletic background provided the perfect foundation for nurturing Hailey’s talents. His approach, while intense, was balanced with encouragement, helping transform Hailey into a standout player even among older competitors.
Fans often spot him animatedly cheering from the stands, as during TCU’s impressive 14-point comeback win against Notre Dame in November 2024.
Beyond Basketball: Jessica Van Lith
While Corey focused on athletic development, Jessica Van Lith provided essential emotional balance and support throughout Hailey’s journey. Her steady presence has been visible at games and milestones, including Hailey’s master’s degree celebration in August 2024.
Jessica’s professional expertise in interior design complements her role in the family’s custom home-building business, Van Lith Homes. The couple have been running this successful enterprise since Corey took over from his father, Gary, in 2002, demonstrating the entrepreneurial spirit that influences their family values.
The Van Liths’ influence extends beyond basketball courts and construction sites. When NBA legend Kobe Bryant noticed Hailey’s talent with Team USA around 2019, he reached out to the family.

Corey developed a mentorship connection with Bryant, sharing training strategies, while Kobe saw Hailey as a role model for his daughter Gianna, a relationship that profoundly impacted them all.
Today, Hailey continues her basketball journey at TCU after stints at Louisville and LSU—plus earning an Olympic bronze medal in 3×3 basketball at the 2024 Paris Games. Corey and Jessica remain her most dedicated supporters, embodying the blend of toughness and tenderness that has propelled their daughter to international success.
