Already one of the most successful coaches in women’s college basketball history, South Carolina’s Dawn Staley is looking to once again silence the doubters with the No. 1 seed Gamecocks.
In a recent Under Armour commercial—in collaboration with YouTube group RDCWorld—Staley got her chance, looking into the camera and “silencing the haters.”

Fresh off a women’s NCAA Tournament bracket reveal in which the Gamecocks missed out on the No. 1 overall seed in favor of the UCLA Bruins, Dawn Staley and Under Armour released a commercial titled “Silencing the Haters.”

“ LET THEM TALK.” Under Armour wrote in the Tweet announcing the commercial.
Staley repeatedly campaigned for South Carolina to receive the No. 1 overall seed this week, following an SEC tournament championship run that saw the Gamecocks dispatch ranked Texas, Oklahoma, and Vanderbilt by double-digits.
“I’m a little bit surprised,” Staley told ESPN. “We put ourselves in the position to be the number one overall seed. And I do think if you do, you know, the blind test and you put our resume against any other team in the field, I think…you’ll pick us. That’s just plain and simple.”
At the team’s Tournament Selection Watch Party, Staley echoed that statement.
“I think we did much more than probably any other overall number one seed,” she told News19. “We outdid ourselves, even from last year…My gut was the number one overall seed because we put the work in.
“That’s what my gut gives me, but man says otherwise, and I don’t really put my faith in man, and so we’ll play with it. We’ll play the cards that we’ve been dealt.”

Even though Staley is drumming up bulletin board material for her team, gamblers are not buying the doubt. According to DraftKings Sportsbook, South Carolina is currently +240 to win the NCAA Tournament, the best odds in the country.
