It’s the Sweet 16 in the Women’s NCAA tournament, and there are fantastic matchups all weekend. One of the best games is the two-seeded UConn Huskies taking on the three-seeded Oklahoma Sooners.

Oklahoma and UConn have had terrific seasons this year, but the Huskies are a leg up, winning 33 games this year and only losing three. Read on to find out everything you need to know about this matchup and what bets I think are slam dunks in this game.

While Oklahoma is a great basketball team, as the spread indicates, the gap between them and UConn is a big one. UConn shoots the ball better, rebounds better, is more efficient, and plays better defense.

The Huskies are ranked as the No. 1 scoring defense in the country, only allowing 51.5 points per game to opponents this season. Offensively, UConn is just as good, with the ninth-best scoring offense, putting up 81.5 points per game. In addition to scoring a lot of points, the Huskies’ efficiency is through the roof, making over 50% of their shots this season.

Oklahoma is great offensively, ranking as the fourth-best scoring offense in the country, averaging 85.4 points per game this season. Defensively, however, the Sooners unit is awful ranking at 272nd in terms of points per game allowed, letting up nearly 70 points per game.

    UConn vs. Oklahoma Prediction

With the data provided above, I think there’s a clear differentiating factor between these two squads and that’s defense. While Oklahoma can score points, I think UConn’s suffocating defense will slow that down while filling it up on the offensive side of the ball.

Another mismatch in this game is the three-point shooting. Oklahoma relies heavily on their center, Raegan Beers (Hall of Fame name), offensively and does not shoot the three at a high level.

However, UConn has shot the 3-ball at nearly 40% this season, and Paige Bueckers and Co. should have no problem hitting shots over this weak Sooners defense.

I expect this game to be high-scoring and for UConn to cruise to a big-time victory. I like both the over and UConn -14.5.

    Prediction: Uconn 105, Oklahoma 70
