UConn Huskies star Azzi Fudd recently revealed which WNBA star she looked up to while growing up. Surprisingly, it was not WNBA legend Diana Taurasi. On Tuesday, Aug. 12, Fudd uploaded the premiere episode of her “Fudd Around and Find Out” podcast on YouTube alongside her co-host, Ashanti Plummer.
In one part of the video, Plummer asked Fudd who she was most excited to meet when they attended the 2025 WNBA All-Star game last month. Fudd named New York Liberty guard Natasha Cloud, saying she was one of the players she idolized growing up.
“Gosh, I met so many people. It was really fun to see players that I’m a big fan of, like Natasha Cloud. I love her. She played for the Mystics, like she’s one of my favorite players growing up. She made me love watching the Mystics, and when she got traded, I don’t see her as much. So being able to see her and hang out with her for a little bit, it was like really fun,” Fudd said (12:09).
Cloud is in her 10th season in the WNBA, and has enjoyed a remarkable career with accomplishments such as the 2019 WNBA championship with the Washington Mystics. She has also been named to WNBA All-Defensive teams thrice already.
These accolades are exactly the reason why Fudd said she used to look up to Cloud, as she now enters her fifth and final year of college basketball with the Huskies.

Azzi Fudd also adored former UConn Huskies forward Gabby Williams, especially when she met her
On the same podcast, Azzi Fudd revealed that she also met former UConn Huskies forward and now Seattle Storm wing, Gabby Williams, during the 2025 WNBA All-Star Weekend. Fudd loved meeting her and getting to hold a conversation with her, especially since she was also a Husky, after many instances of them just greeting each other.
“I was really excited to meet Gabby Williams, though, like I had seen her before, met her before, like, ‘Hi, I’m Azzi,’ because she’s a UConn alum, but good to actually spend time with her. She’s super cool,” Fudd shared (12:36).
Williams was a two-time national champion with coach Geno Auriemma’s Huskies, helping the program win the 2015 and 2016 titles, which were her first and second years of college basketball, respectively. She got drafted with the fourth overall pick of the 2018 WNBA Draft, after four years at UConn, and has since become a standout for the Seattle Storm. With this, she was selected for her first All-Star Game in July this year.
