UConn Huskies stars Azzi Fudd and Sarah Strong are currently preparing for their national title defense in the 2025-26 campaign. Their growing camaraderie can be seen in a video uploaded by UConn Women’s Basketball on Instagram on Wednesday, June 18.
At the beginning of the Instagram reel, Fudd and Strong engage in a sarcastic back-and-forth sequence. The UConn Huskies social media team decided to mic up Fudd for the session, which is why their conversation was heard.
The incoming second-year standout called her senior out with a hand gesture, suggesting that Fudd was extremely talkative. Fudd retaliated, saying, “You started it. You started it today when you were like, ‘better guard.’ What’d you say?” Strong rested her case with, “Azzi gets the mic and won’t stop talking.”
“THIS IS YOU NON-STOP,” Strong said before fudd playfully replied with, “you started it.”

The clip then shows Fudd communicating with other Huskies, such as Jana El-Alfy, Ayanna Patterson, Ashlynn Shade, and transferee Kayleigh Heckel. The aforementioned names were vying to come back against Strong and her team during scrimmages, as Fudd mentioned that they lost the first game.
Fortunately for Fudd and company, they were able to return from their 0-2 start and finish the day with a 3-2 standing. Throughout the compilation, Fudd was being assertive in her role as the vocal leader for the team, as she and Strong were trying to get into each other’s heads.
“Nothing feels better than beating Sarah before she leaves,” Fudd said at the end of the video.

Fudd is presumably going to be the Huskies’ captain for the next season, given that she will be entering her fifth year of college basketball with the team. This is also bolstered by the fact that former Huskies sensation Paige Bueckers has already graduated and joined the Dallas Wings in the WNBA. Fudd must be looking to take on those reins months before the start of her final season.
UConn Huskies are vying for back-to-back national championships
Before 2025, the last time that coach Geno Auriemma’s UConn Huskies won the national title was in 2016, which was from their illustrious four-peat from 2013 to 2016. Azzi Fudd, Sarah Strong, and the rest of the 2025-26 roster will look to snag banner No. 13 for the program after winning its 12th national championship earlier this year.
