Trinity Rodman Welcomes Georgia Amoore to D.C. With Heartfelt Draft Night Message

This year, Washington, D.C., gained a new star. Georgia Amoore, the Australian point guard, joined the Mystics. Her arrival on the team was welcomed by a warm gesture from one of the city’s other star players, Washington Spirit, and USWNT forward Trinity Rodman.

In a wholesome video, Rodman made it clear that she can’t wait to play and have fun alongside her in D.C.

Trinity Rodman Welcomes One of Her Biggest Fans, Georgia Amoore

The Washington Mystics drafted Amoore sixth overall on Monday night in New York. The 24-year-old, fresh off a stellar college career, signed a four-year deal.

Hours after arriving in D.C., she received a surprise that left her grinning. Rodman, the Spirit’s dynamic forward, sent her a video message. The clip, shared by the WNBA on X, featured Amoore on a subway, earphones in, watching Rodman’s greeting.

“Hey, Georgia, it’s Trinity here,” Rodman said. “Just wanted to give you a huge congrats on being drafted. Welcome to the WNBA. Happy you are with the Mystics.” Rodman invited Amoore to a Spirit game, offering to host and hang out.

Amoore’s reaction was pure joy. “That’s the best thing that I have ever seen in my life,” she said, stunned.

“Like, how did you [even manage to do that]?” Beaming, she admitted her admiration for Rodman. The point guard promised to attend multiple Spirit games, ready to cheer from the stands. She couldn’t wait to connect with her idol and make plans.

While Amoore is still young, her career so far, isn’t something one can simply brush off. Amoore’s college stats have been phenomenal. She has secured 2,460 points, 869 assists, and a record-breaking 213 assists in her final season.

She led Kentucky to a 23-8 record, turning around a program that struggled the year before. Her scoring averaged 19.6 points per game.

Rodman, on the other hand, is no less at all. Known for her soccer skills, she’s carved her own path as Dennis Rodman’s daughter. Her warmth towards Amoore shows that even after all the accolades, her feet are still on the ground.

Their age gap (Rodman is two years younger) doesn’t dim Amoore’s admiration. The rookie sees Rodman as a kindred spirit, someone who gets the grind of elite competition.

The Mystics, coming off a 14-26 season, hope Amoore’s skills will give them a better chance. Her ability to score and set up plays could shift their fortunes. Meanwhile, D.C. fans are already imagining courtside chats between Amoore and Rodman. The duo’s shared energy feels like a perfect match for a city that loves its sports.
