The powerhouse Texas Longhorns women’s basketball program finds itself navigating the ever-active transfer portal following their impressive Final Four run. Head coach Vic Schaefer faces the task of rebuilding key positions after graduating several impact players while maintaining the competitive edge that propelled them deep into March Madness.
The portal provides both challenges and opportunities for the Longhorns as they prepare for their upcoming season. With two key players departing and two promising talents arriving, Texas is reshaping its roster strategically to remain among the elite programs in women’s college basketball as they continue to compete at the highest level.

Players Leaving Texas
Abbie Boutilier
The 6-foot-9 center entered the transfer portal around April 7, 2025, following her redshirt freshman season. Despite being the tallest player in NCAA women’s basketball during the 2024-25 season, Boutilier saw limited playing time with the Longhorns. With four years of eligibility remaining after missing her true freshman year due to injury, she likely seeks more on-court opportunities elsewhere.
Jordana Codio
Junior guard Jordana Codio announced her entry into the transfer portal around April 6, 2025. Standing at 6-foot-1, the former top 70 recruit from the class of 2022 departs with two years of eligibility remaining. Codio brings valuable experience from multiple deep NCAA Tournament runs with Texas but appears to be seeking a larger role or different playing style as she moves forward in her collegiate career.
Players Joining Texas
Breya Cunningham
Texas scored a major addition with 6-foot-4 forward Breya Cunningham, announced on April 14, 2025. Transferring from Arizona with two years of eligibility remaining, Cunningham started 64 of 66 games for the Wildcats, averaging an impressive 11 points and 7 rebounds per game in her sophomore season. Ranked as the No. 12 transfer in the portal by CBS Sports, she immediately addresses the void left by Taylor Jones’s graduation.
Lovisa Asbrink Hose
Coach Schaefer bolstered the team’s frontcourt by landing 6-foot-6 center Lovisa Asbrink Hose who transfers to Texas after spending her freshman year at Florida Atlantic University with her commitment revealed on April 14, 2025.
The Sweden native brings international experience to FAU from the U16 and U18 Swedish National teams. In her first year, she averaged 3.4 points and 3.8 rebounds per game and earned AAC Freshman of the Week honors in January 2025.

These transfer portal movements reflect Coach Schaefer’s priority on maintaining frontcourt size and depth. Paired with returning stars Rori Harmon and Madison Booker plus incoming freshman Aaliyah Crump, Texas is positioning itself for another competitive season. The additions of Cunningham and Asbrink Hose specifically address height concerns following Boutilier’s departure and Jones’s graduation, keeping the Longhorns’ championship aspirations firmly intact.
