4 Months Post Surgery, Georgia Amoore Flexes Coffee, Smiles and Recovery Update In Latest IG Post

Former Kentucky Wildcats standout and now Washington Mystics rookie Georgia Amoore recently gave an update on her recovery. On Monday, Aug. 11, Amoore uploaded a series of Instagram stories to detail her injury recovery.

On April 30 of this year, reports surfaced of Amoore suffering a season-ending ACL injury during a practice session for coach Sydney Johnson’s Mystics. Amoore was selected with the sixth overall pick in the first round of this year’s WNBA Draft, which excited a lot of the Washington faithful.

In her stories, Amoore is first seen posing on a coffee shop counter with a black hoodie with a WNBA logo in front of it, gray sweatpants, and a pair of Air Jordan 3s. Amoore is seen holding her coffee with the caption:

“It’s been four months post-surgery. Can a girl show a lil’ bit of movement and free will?”

Amoore’s other story shows her specific rehabilitation process, where she had to gradually move her left knee up and down.

“Guys, I can actually run, skip (and) jump now,” she said.

Amoore entered the WNBA after finishing her five-year college basketball career with coach Kenny Brooks’ Wildcats, the previous four of which were spent with the Virginia Tech Hokies. They finished the 2024-25 season with an overall record of 23-8 (11-5, SEC) and went all the way to the second round of this year’s NCAA tournament.

Georgia Amoore says she eventually wants to become a basketball coach

In an article published by David Yapkowitz of Yahoo! Sports, Georgia Amoore was asked about her recent experience as one of the coaches for the WNBA Basketball Without Borders camp during the 2025 WNBA All-Star Weekend.

Amoore got the rare chance to coach throughout the initiative. She revealed that she does want to become a coach when the time comes.

“It’s always gonna be a good opportunity to take a step back and look through different lenses. Eventually, I know one day, I do want to coach. So it’s kind of been cool to not only do that while I’m injured, but have so many different experiences. Like obviously, I sit behind the bench during our games, but to be able to come here and coach young females has been the best opportunity,” Amoore was quoted as saying.

Despite not even playing out her first game in the league yet, it seems as though Amoore already has her sights on what to partake after her playing career concludes. Still, there is much basketball left to be played for Amoore, who was also an international prospect from Australia. This is a factor why she was tapped as a coach for the recent BWB camp, inspiring international aspirants.
