“Welcome Back 22”: Steph Curry’s Sister Cheers Loudly for Cameron Brink Over Long-Awaited Comeback

Cameron Brink emerged as a superstar for Stanford during her college days and was rewarded by becoming the second pick in the 2024 WNBA draft. Her career got off to a good start as she began to establish herself as an effective and reliable player in her rookie season in 2024. However, 15 games into the year, Brink tore her ACL.

This injury kept Brink out for the rest of the 2024 season and for the early stages of the 2025 season. However, on Tuesday, 13 months after her last WNBA game, she returned to the Los Angeles Sparks’ lineup against the Las Vegas Aces. While the Sparks lost 89-74, Sparks fans were happy to see Brink step onto a WNBA court, even if it was only for 14 minutes.

Golden State Warriors superstar Steph Curry’s sister, Sydel Curry, was at the game on Tuesday. She took a video of Brink as she scored and posted it on her Instagram story with a short caption.

“Welcome back 22. Watch til the end,” Sydel Curry wrote.

Cameron Brink Was on a Minutes Restriction on Tuesday

While it was exciting for Sparks fans to see Cameron Brink back in the lineup, she still had a minutes restriction on Tuesday. Having not played in 13 months, the coaching staff wanted to ensure she is not rushed into playing too much, which could risk another injury.

On Tuesday, head coach Lynn Roberts spoke about Brink returning to the lineup.

“We’re thrilled to have her back, and I’m incredibly proud of her,” Roberts said. “She’s on a minutes restriction. I told her that she needs to enjoy the moment. It’s a hard injury to come back from mentally and physically, and she’s done it with a smile on her face.”

Brink’s return was the Sparks’ first loss in five games. Despite that, after the game, most players were excited to talk about Brink’s performance. In limited minutes, she put up five points, three rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block.

Brink’s teammate, Kelsey Plum, who is one of the biggest stars in the WNBA, spoke about Brink’s impact after the game.

“I was really proud of her,” Plum said. “I told her after the game, ‘It’s very impressive to come in, make the impact that you did.’ I think she’s gonna continue to just help us a ton.”

Brink and the Sparks are in action again on Friday against the Seattle Storm.
