Ta’Niya Latson was previously with the Florida State Seminoles from 2022 to 2025. In March 2025, she entered the transfer portal and transferred to Dawn Staley’s South Carolina in April. In her three years with Florida State, Latson played 93 games, starting on every outing.

Latson averaged 30.2 minutes and 22.5 points per game. Her career high scoring average came in 2025, when she dropped 25.2 points per game. Outside of scoring, Latson also averaged 4.6 rebounds, 4.6 assists, and 2.2 steals per game last season.

Ta’Niya Latson was a Second-team All-American this year as well. Now with the Gamecocks, the 5’8″ guard is expected to scale greater heights in her college career.

Earlier this month, Latson signed a NIL deal with Unrivaled. She was one of the 14 college basketball players who signed with Unrivaled on July 19.

Ta’Niya Latson joined South Carolina to chase a title

Ta’Niya Latson showed individual brilliance at Florida State, but the dream of a championship is still unfulfilled. That’s what compelled her to enter the transfer portal and eventually join the Gamecocks. Latson revealed that she was in talks with a lot of different schools, but South Carolina seemed to be the right choice.

“I talked to a lot of schools,” Ta’Niya Latson said. “but ultimately I knew my goals and I knew my vision and South Carolina had that.”

Staley also played a key role in convincing her to join her team. Latson said:

“Dawn (Staley), we had a couple of conversations while I was in the portal. She was very personable and she kept it real with me, and I appreciate that because not a lot of coaches do that. And like I said, I’m able to come to her and talk to her about anything. But also the girls played a huge part in it, too. Raven, definitely.”

Ta’Niya Latson is focused on making a name for herself before she declares for the WNBA Draft. One way to do it would be to win a championship. Meanwhile, the lucrative deals that she’s signing will continue to work as added motivation.
