Ruthie Loomis-Goltl Moves Closer to Home

Growing up in Bridgeport, a town of just over 1,500 people, Loomis-Goltl quickly made a name for herself on the basketball court. Now, she’s transferring to Northern Colorado, a move that brings her closer to home and reunites her with her younger sister, Olivia Loomis-Goltl, who committed to UNC earlier.

Her high school career was decorated with more than 2,075 points, 800 rebounds, and 400 blocks, leading the Bridgeport Bulldogs to a 94-12 record, including a runner-up finish in the Nebraska Class C-2 state tournament in 2022.

A four-star recruit ranked No. 78 in the 2023 class by ESPNW, she also excelled in volleyball and track and field, showcasing her all-around athleticism.

What Loomis-Goltl Brings to Northern Colorado

Loomis-Goltl originally committed to Colorado, where she redshirted her freshman season in 2023-24. After practicing with a Top 25 team that reached the Sweet 16, she opted to transfer in search of a larger role.

She initially landed at South Dakota, where she had four years of eligibility remaining. Coyotes head coach Carrie Eighmey praised her addition at the time, saying, “She brings great size, length, athleticism, and versatility… She’s super coachable and a great teammate.”

Now, at Northern Colorado, the 6-foot-3 forward has another opportunity to make an impact. With her defensive presence—evident in her 400+ career blocks—she could be a key asset for the Bears.
