Brazilian basketball star Kamilla Cardoso has proven to be a backup presence in the paint for the Chicago Sky’s superstar, Angel Reese. The center, who used to play for South Carolina before teaming up with Reese in the Sky’s frontline, was seen enjoying herself in a boat and sporting a pink bikini. She even shared her time in the water on her Instagram Stories.
Cardoso was seen enjoying herself while riding a boat and enjoying the clear skies at a beach. The Brazilian showed off her athletic body as she enjoyed her time off as she needed some rest and relaxation as the Chicago Sky continued its slide despite the offensive and rebounding production from her and Angel Reese.
As Reese battled her injury, the other half of Chicago’s “Twin Skyscrapers” held the fort down in the paint, though the team still struggled and is currently one of the worst teams in the WNBA. Reese returned last week against the Washington Mystics, but the beefed up frontline was not enough to give the Sky the victory.
On Friday, Cardoso pulled a page from her All-Star teammate’s book as she finished with a double-double against the Golden State Valkyries with 14 points and 11 rebounds. However, her efforts were not enough as the Sky suffered yet another tough loss, 73-66. Chicago is now on a seven-game losing streak, with the Sky falling to 7-20 for the season.
Chicago Sky Head Coach All Praises for Kamilla Cardoso Amid 7-Game Losing Streak
Angel Reese has been in and out of the active roster as she dealt with some back injuries, which meant that it was all up to the 6’7″ center, Kamilla Cardoso, to carry the team. As the skid continued, Reese missed more and more games, though she did return every now and then, including that loss to the Washington Mystics last week.
However, even with their losing streak, Chicago Sky head coach Tyler Marsh still continued to praise the Brazilian.
“I think it’s tough sometimes from a player perspective when you’re in the midst of losing games the way we have,” he told Sky beat reporter Kari Bell. “I think she is growing more confident as the game goes but the most important thing to [Cardoso] is pulling out wins.”
Much like Reese, Cardoso had been giving out double-doubles during the season, though many of them came during the losing streak as she held the fort for the injured All-Star. She is expected to carry a heavier workload again as the Sky face the Phoenix Mercury on Sunday.
