The No. 6 South Carolina Gamecocks, who are hurdling toward a high seed in the upcoming NCAA Tournament, have themselves a growing star in junior forward Chloe Kitts, who just recently did it all in South Carolina’s 16-point win over Ole Miss Thursday.
In fact, she accomplished a feat that no other Gamecocks player has done in four years.

Chloe Kitts Makes History
South Carolina forward Chloe Kitts set the college basketball world on fire Thursday night by recording the first Gamecock triple-double since legend Aliyah Boston did it in 2021.

She scored 16 points, 13 rebounds, and 10 assists, leading her team to its 26th win of the season.
The 20-year-old star is one of the team’s focal points and has a chance to elevate the team to a whole new level late in the season.
The Gamecocks, who have now won four of their last five, have one regular season game against No. 15 Kentucky before they attempt to cut down the nets in the SEC and NCAA Tournaments.
Now, Staley, Kitts, and the rest of the Gamecocks have their eyes set on going back-to-back and repeating as national champions.
What Makes Chloe Kitts So Good?
If this team is going to go far in March Madness, it has to partially start with Kitts at the top.
The Washington native is averaging career-highs this season in points per game (9.4), rebounds per game (7.8), and assists per game (2.0). She is also shooting 85.5% from the free-throw line, which will be key in late-game situations in the NCAA Tournament. But also, for the second consecutive year, she is shooting over 50% from the field.
This is a great example of why the Gamecocks have been able to stay at an elite level for such a long time.
Great players like the aforementioned Aliyah Boston were able to be consistent performers game in and game out during the most important stretches of the season.

Now, it looks like Kitts might be on track to follow Boston’s example for Staley and the rest of the team.
Following their regular-season finale on Sunday, South Carolina will likely be the top-seeded team in the SEC Tournament, which will be held in Greenville, S.C., from next Wednesday through Saturday.
Another solid performance from Kitts in the postseason might put her in her own little class among college basketball’s most underrated stars of the game.
