‘I Beat Her in the Championship Game’: LSU Star Flau’jae Johnson Takes Witty Jab at Caitlin Clark

Flau’jae Johnson won’t let Caitlin Clark forget the Iowa Hawkeyes’ 102-85 loss to the LSU Tigers in the national championship game two years ago. During a recent chat with top high school prospect Tatianna Griffin, Johnson took a witty jab at the WNBA superstar, which Overtime Select posted on its Instagram page on Sunday.

Griffin asked Johnson how she came up with the idea of mentioning Clark in her song “Help Me.” The LSU star opened her reply by taking a playful shot at the Indiana Fever guard, which drew some laughs from Griffin.

“Me and Caitlin, we go way back to when I beat her in the national championship game,” Johnson said. “Nah I’m just playin.”

Johnson then explained the process of including Clark in the lyrics of her song, saying:

“We kinda like always just kept in contact and I always ask her for advice and stuff. And she was like, ‘When will you put my name in a song?’ And I was like, ‘I got you.’ And one time I was writing the song and I said ‘arc’ or something like that. ‘Oh, I can say Caitlin Clark now.'”

Johnson found a way to link Clark’s initials to the prestigious fashion brand Coco Chanel in her new song.

“Double C on my jacket like Caitlin Clark. And I felt like that was a bar,” Johnson added.
